It was a problem with the ‘redirection’ plugin. No idea what it was specifically, but i switched the plugin off and the problem went away.

I reverted back to the previous version (1.0.8)

This aticle changed my life with this problem, which all came down to using /%postname%/ in the permalinks which is apparently a really bad idea (thanks WordPress!).

I’m having exactly the same problem – the 6-7 second pause before the page loads. have you found a solution or a root cause of the problem?
