In reply to: Automatic Upgrade to 3.5.2 Demands FTPesmi – Just wanted to update you that from Googling it became clear that WP on Windows/IIS cannot be autoupdated – period. I did the manual update – tedious, but-do-able.

I am experiencing similar problems. I also read the manual upgrade instructions, and got the impression that not even Albert EInstein could do it successfully.
I would be happy to hear more about your experience and if/how you succeeded.
Bij voorbaat dank!

In reply to: Automatic Upgrade to 3.5.2 Demands FTPOK – thanks anyway.
The problem is that I just took a look at the manual upgrade instructions you linked to, and it seems like even Albert EInstein wouldn’t be able to undersatdn them. But then again, I might just be as stupid as my ex-wife claims…

In reply to: Automatic Upgrade to 3.5.2 Demands FTPHi Esmi,
OK – I should have been more specific – has anypne succeeded in doing an automatic upgrade when WordPress was installed in Windows IIS using WPI 4.5.
I have other programs on my server which require IIS, andother web servers can’t be run simulatneously.

In reply to: Automatic Upgrade to 3.5.2 Demands FTPWell, I gave in and installed the Windows FTP server. But even if I specify the admin’s credentials for FTP access, the installtion fails (failed copying files).
Has ANYONE managed to perform an automatic upgrade in Windows?
I am beginning to get the feeling that WordPress’s Windows support is an afterthought…
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: WordPress Installed on IIS 7 in Subdirectory – I Wanted RootThanks David for your response.
I am amazed that it is that complicated.
I ended up doing a total re-install by:
1) Manually removing all components installed by WPI 4.5
2) Manually removing the c:\ProgramData\MySql folder (otherwise a re-install of MySql doesn’t work because the behind-the-scenes configuration of MySql assumed a totally new DB, and an uninstall of MySql doesn’t really erase the old one)
3) Reinstalltion of the WPI 4.5 WordPress kit – this time specifying application = <EMPTY>GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRR
