In reply to: ERROR: please fill the required fields (name, email).OKAY. The problem goes away when I disable JetPack.
THANKS VERY MUCH, WordPress developers, for creating a plugin that causes your own theme to malfunction.

In reply to: ERROR: please fill the required fields (name, email).I’m using Twenty Thirteen and I have this problem. I have not edited any core files.
If the user is logged in, he/she sees this error message and loses whatever he/she typed.
If the user is not logged in, he/she sometimes gets a dialog asking to resend data. Once that’s done, the page is redrawn inside the comment area — completely screwed up. OR the comment is never posted at all.
Someone’s response on a closed thread was “fixed. jQuery placeholder.js was interfering with the enqueued comment script”
I have no idea what this means.
Help? Please?

In reply to: [Plugins: Jetpack] How to manage the Subscriptions?I’d like to see subscriber stats beyond the number of subscribers. For example, I’d like to see when each subscriber signed up, what delivery frequency they prefer, and what format they prefer. It’s weird having people subscribe without knowing anything about them or being able to manage subscriptions.
I’m using FeedBurner for email subscriptions and it offers a lot more control — including many formatting options. I think JetPack’s solution has a long way to go before it’s really usable for serious site managers.
@esmi: You’re kidding, right?
All throughout these forums, we’re told NOT to start new threads when an existing thread will do. And you knock this guy down for doing what he’s supposed to?
And thanks, Voodoo for your help!

In reply to: PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic libraryActually, my error messages are SLIGHTLY different:

It happens with ALL of my WordPress blogs.

In reply to: PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic libraryI am also seeing this problem. While it doesn’t appear to be affecting my blog’s load speed, it is causing my error.log files to become huge. That, in turn, is severely slowing down my site (not database) backups.
I’d also like to know if there’s something I can tweak in WordPress to make this problem go away. I don’t know enough about PHP and these error messages to have an intelligent discussion with my ISP. They just say it’s a WordPress issue.

In reply to: Improving the www.remarpro.com support forumsIt’s HUGELY difficult to find the answers to questions in the forums. Searches bring up so many possible threads; wading through them is a pain in the butt.
One thing that might help is the ability to “vote down” a comment as “unhelpful.” If “unhelpful” votes exceed “helpful” votes, the comment would be hidden. This could get the unhelpful, conversational chit-chat out of the way for people who have a problem and just want to solve it quickly.
Also, there needs to be a way to combine threads. How many times have we seen six or ten or 20 threads all covering the same problem? Rather than simply point people to another thread, can’t they be somehow linked? I don’t know. I guess I’m grasping here.
Forums are frustrating right now, but I’ve seen worse elsewhere.

In reply to: MySQL Query to Delete Posts Before a Certain DateSomeone suggested
delete * from wp_posts where post_date < 2010-05-11 02:08:17
But I’m thinking that it would not deleted associated comments. Can anyone help me with this?

In reply to: how to empty trash with 2000 posts at once?Nevermind. I couldn’t wait and tried it anyway. It worked just as I hoped: it deleted all the posts in the Trash.
Thanks!

In reply to: how to empty trash with 2000 posts at once?I’m also interested in emptying the trash. Before I try this query, I just want to confirm that it is designed to ONLY delete items with a post_status of “trash.”
This might be a dumb question, but my knowledge of MySQL is just enough to make me dangerous.
And can I assume that the above query can be copied and pasted as is into the correct database query form?
Yes, I WILL back up before attempting. But I don’t want any surprises that occur as a result of my ignorance.
Thanks.
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: 2.9 upgrade failedI also host on GoDaddy and didn’t experience any serious problems. I did have to update my MySQL file — it was an old blog running a version of MySQL 4. After creating a new database and “recovering” the backup from the old to the new, I also had a lot of garbage characters that need cleaning up.
But what’s worse is that my blog is now VERY slow, especially at administrative tasks such as deleting large bunches of spam comments.
Any way to speed that up?

In reply to: Duotone PHP Error on WordPress 2.9I’m also having problems with this theme and would really like to see them fixed. I tried hacking the files as instructed here but must have screwed something up. I’m hoping a new, fixed version is available soon. I like this theme much more than its predecessor, Monotone.
Thanks.

In reply to: Stats showing region a and region bThanks, joemcgill. This fixed it for me, too.
Don’t you just love it when a support forum works the way it’s supposed to?

In reply to: [Plugin: Landing sites] landing sites database error…Okay, I fixed the problem by DOWNGRADING to Landing Sites 1.3. It works fine under WP 2.6.5. Will test it under 2.7 now; if I don’t report here, you can assume it works.
