Thank you for your help, but I have resolved the issue. The problem is so stupid on my end I am almost embarrassed to say.

I discovered it wasn’t trying to submit the Contact Form 7 form. It was trying to submit an old contact.php file I had inadvertently left in the directory from the days when the site was a static html site. I have no idea why it just started this behavior today, but it did.

I discovered the cause of the problem, so I will post a question about that.

I read about why core files should never be edited, and I appreciate your warning. I have saved the original file, and when I need to upgrade WP, I will re-upload it. Thanks.

Okey doke, I edited my post that had my “resolution”.

But after hours of research, I couldn’t get it done any other way. I did save the original as a backup, in case it didn’t work or broke something. But everything checked out smoothly.

I couldn’t hide the “Back To” link without also hiding the “Lost Your Password” link.

Hi, I want to remove the “back to” link as well, but I don’t want to use the custom Login plugin. Can you tell me what .css file I should put those two styles in?

In my case, I have nailed this issue down to a conflict with the New User Approve plugin.
