  • I’d like to know if this is possible as well. I found the code in index-one.php and simply removed the “get date” strings from the line. Don’t interpret this as a recommendation to do this yourself, though. ?? I have an events plug-in also running, and I just needed to clear that up in one easy spot.

Thanks for the response. I tried adding lines of text on the front page, but in the Events section, it just bleeds them off the page, and when one clicks into the page to read the rest, it works as expected. I guess I’ll go into index-one.php and see what I can do there. I don’t know much about PHP, so if you would have time to tell me what to strip out, and then what to put in there, that would be pretty wonderful. I’m using the Modern Tribe plug-in, and I’ve also added Event Rocket to provide shortcodes that I can use to create a list of upcoming events. Thank you so much.

This would be less of an issue if I hadn’t discovered another problem. Shortcodes do not work properly unless you are on the exact page or post where the shortcodes are entered. My “Latest Events” currently has a shortcode in the only post in the Events category, and the front page displays the text of the shortcode. If you click into the post, the shortcode executes properly. The same issue occurred elsewhere on the site (in the Amazon List plug-in, under /learn/bookshelf), which I have now corrected by changing the menu from a category-post base to a page. However, that is a short-term fix in that situation.

I would like to be able to replace the front page “Events” with the “upcoming events” widget that I am using on the inside pages. However, if that can’t be done easily, a quicker fix might be to fix this shortcode problem. Is that possible?

Would you like me to open a separate post for this shortcode problem?

    The site is https://www.tdi3.org.

    Thank you so much.

I think I have this working now, at least for the time being. I was using a post in a category, with the category then creating the menu item. I am now using a page, and the carousel is working fine as far as I can tell.

I suspect the issue might be a problem with the theme, not the plug-in, as I am having a shortcode issue with another plugin as well.

    Thank you for your help.

Hi Paul, and thanks for your reply.

I am not getting a text link. I am getting a text string that is being generated by the post tool. It looks exactly like this on the website page linked above:

    [amazon asin=1400063515&template=iframe image]

Is there another way that I should be inserting information into the post tool so that it will display properly?

Here is what I have done:
    1. added new post. Title of post is book title.
    2. Skipped everything else down to the Amazon Link section.
    3. Added the ISBN number, which I understand to be the same as the ASIN in the box labeled ASIN. (The number is 1400063515.)
    4. Link text defaulted to Amazon; I left it as is.
    5. Template – I chose the Iframe template.
    6. Hit “insert link,” which is the only option I have.
    7. It inserted this link: [amazon asin=1400063515&template=image&title=-&image=-]
    8. Clicked “Update” for the post.

It still shows as the text string in #7 above.

What am I doing wrong here?

    Thank you so much.
    MJ

This is not working for me either. I have other issues with the Events/News category which I will post in a separate thread. I tried reducing the number to 0 posts, and it reset itself to 3 each time. I then tried resetting to 1 post, and it saved 1 but still shows 3. I was trying to change it to 0 to get the Events/News to stop appearing on my home page. Again, I’ll post that separately. Thank you.
