About threads being closed, i didn’t realise that is a WP mod. Strange. Maybe they are doing it because the thread shows as Resolved?

Personally I disagree with that Resolved strategy from the point of view of encouraging the community to participate in solutions as well as questions. I do understand the time needed to deal with forums, and appreciate it is not easy. But I think it all connects. A strong, participating community comes from the opportunity to both ask and answer, and add to existing answers. OPs who see more community involvement and discussion with answers may be encouraged to provide their own feedback on the solutions offered, and stick around.

Regarding hijacking of threads, why not let the community handle it as well? The community-minded forum members will want the same as you. They can’t moderate, but they can tell people what is or isn’t appropriate. That can help grow the community as well., not just based on how many install the plugin.

About the search and filter, the presented solution removes both the search field and the datatables filters. I do not believe that is what that OP wanted to do. As the checkbox covers both, I felt that solution being the accepted one, before the OP had commented, was premature. I certainly would have posted a display:none solution (which is how I solved it) had the thread not been resolved / closed.

Just my 2 cents in the end, though I have been a member of a team that helped created a very active, community focused forum.
