One down, two to go! Yes, I don’t know how that div tag got in there, I wasn’t even editing that page. (?)

I’m afraid I don’t know what to do about Issue #2. I thought I was fixing it, but have made no progress as yet. Thoughts?

    This may be relevant-

I may have changed the name of the article(s) to save space on the page. When I realized this may have screwed things up, I tried to go back and fix it… maybe I made it worse…?

I hear you. I’ve crashed my site screwing around with code I don’t understand. I’m relying on the experts now…

    one last question (maybe)…

This page showed no sidebar on the right…
Review – First, Break All the Rules: What the World’s Greatest Managers Do Differently

    This page showed no content…?
Review of Blink – The Power of Thinking Without Thinking – by Malcolm Gladwell

This page also showed no content…?
Review of Outliers – The Story of Success – by Malcolm Gladwell

I can’t think what I did that would cause this. I thought I was finally making some progress!!

Thanks, Clayton James. Perhaps my frustration came out at the wrong person.
I make no secret about how new I am. 3 months ago I had the idea to start a site, and I’ve been scrambling to learn as fast as I can ever since. I generally have 3 or 4 library books at a time as well as surfing many of the forums.
Wordpress is not as easy as I’d heard it was… at first. Getting used to any new platform takes time. I’m starting to get the hang of it a little bit. Although PHP is totally new to me.

Thank you for your help and kind words.

I’m not sure if we’re on the same page about the second issue…

I’d like every page to have the same thing on the right-hand side. A list of articles, then a list of book reviews.

But I can’t get a new page to not show up in the list of articles, even if it doesn’t belong there.

I’m using a couple of widgets. That’s how I’m getting the book reviews to appear now. I don’t know much about widgets yet.

Well then thank you again, LenK!

I’ve got all of my articles in the right sidebar. I want to have my book reviews show up in the section below the articles. But if I make a new page, I don’t know how to make it show up below (in the “review section”) rather than with the rest of the articles. So far, every new page I create automatically shows up in the article list.

By the way, I was totally ignoring the h3 header since I assumed that would be a very low level header. Shouldn’t h1 be the top header?

oh wait! I just realized it is asking for page ID. Now what the heck is that? I tried putting in the url, the name of the page, name of the site followed by the name of the page…

    What am I missing?

I tried that, but it said :

    Error – invalid data

Or maybe I don’t know how to do it right. I typed in “Leadership” since that’s one of the tabs being displayed.

Am I doing it wrong, or do you have any other tricks up your sleeve?

I understand this is a volunteer forum. I have no sense of entitlement. I appreciate help being offered.

I still don’t understand the FTP instruction. I don’t doubt that you both are correct, but I’ve not used any FTP before. I’ll investigate from my webhost, I suppose.

What does it mean to FTP a copy?

ClaytonJames, please give some more detail on both of your points.

For A) I cannot log into my site – at all – to reverse or remove the bad code… as far as I can tell. No matter how I try to log in, I only get the error page.

For B) I’ve never had trouble with trying different things with the code before and have no backup as yet. I’ve always tried something, then if it didn’t work, I’d go back and undo it. Now, I can’t do that.

And finally, obviously I am the cause of the crash and not wordpress. Thank you for throwing that in my face. Of course, that doesn’t help fix anything does it?
