Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [GeneratePress] Image SizeThanks Leo,The recommended image size assures that image placement is optimal within the theme I am using, i.e no distortion in the thumbnails, featured image etc. Obviously a small image chosen as the featured image would see it getting stretched to fit the placeholder. Hence, I am interested to know of any recommendation for the uploaded image before WordPress gets to work creating the different sizes needed for a theme.
Are you saying the GP has no minimum image size or ratio such as 16:9?

In reply to: Site DOwn after 4.9.2 UpgradeCan you open files on the server? if yes, then look for the folder names wp-includes.
Open wp-includes and near the bottom of the files listed, you will see wp-db.php
Open wp-db.php and around line 1657 you will see the line of code to amend. If you don’t have a file editor, try something free such as Notepad++ as it lists line numbers.

In reply to: Site DOwn after 4.9.2 UpgradeMy site is fine with wp-db.php from version 4.9.1
The error occurs as soon as wp-db.php from 4.9.2 is uploaded. Te reported error refers to an unrecognized character but there is not one in the file on or near the line reported 1657.After reading a possibility was that the file had not been uploaded in plain UTF-8, I downloaded Notepad++ and checked the encoding but found it to be correct.
I have exactly the same theme and WordPress install working perfectly on another web-space provider so am wondering if the php version is the culprit?
My provider is using PHP 5* whereas the provider where the install works fine is using PHP 7*
I don’t know the answer at the moment.

In reply to: Site DOwn after 4.9.2 UpgradeHi Rajan,
I have just now deleted and re-installed a fresh 4.9.2 less the config file and content folder. I have deactivated all plugins and changed the theme. I am still getting the error message – Warning: preg_match(): Compilation failed: unrecognized character after (?< at offset 4 in /web1/user/website/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1657Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Site DOwn after 4.9.2 UpgradeHi Rajan,
Thanks for coming back ?? I tried the complete re-install option as described an hour ago, unfortunately, it made no difference. I will try it again. I have also changed themes but that made no difference either.Forum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: Site DOwn after 4.9.2 UpgradeHi Rajan,
The version is 4.9.2 but I have replaced wp-db.php with the version from 4.9.1, if I upload the new version of wp-db.php then the site crashes.
