I dont have ftp access on this host, I use WinSCP when I need to move files.

Although in this instance, I did use wget to download WordPress directly to the server. And logged in with SSH and move/deleted files as necessery.

Still havent solved this, does anyone have any pointers? Should a clear the database when installing the new one and then reinsert the backup? Or something…

I removed the extracted contents and redid the operation: https://pastebin.org/42802

I then proceeded to copy the extracted contents into the www folder. Although this time around I used the webinterface to create wp-config.php rather than copying the old one or editing the sample file.

Still no effect though, just blank and white. Could someone look at the extracted files there in the paste and check so that all the files actually are in the tar? Maybe I should try to redownload it, just in case.

It seems you and I have similiar problems, Ill watch this thread.

I removed all the files and from the wordpress install, then copied the new files in there.

I then copied wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php and input my account info. That is, making a new file rather than reusing the old one.

The problem persists though, any more thoughts?

Edit: I moved the old code back into the blog folder, that site still works. I doublechecked that all the plugins were disabled and Im using a default theme.

I then replaced the wp-content folder with the default one from the latest release, and the old site can work with that folder. So it shouldnt be some missing plugins or themes.

This is getting quite frustrating. Do I need to do something the database besides visiting wp-admin/wp-upgrade.php?
