Hi Roman,
A little too much effort for something so trivial. I will remove the project widget and try something else. Thank you for your efforts.

All plugins deactivated except Page builder and same issue.

I have also tried the suggestion of resizing original. This works but image is now left justified instead of centered.

Same issue for me. css worked perfectly but image also scaled to 100%
tagging to get progress updates.
