@angelo, we are using Events Manager Version 5.5.3.1. I don’t see the duplicates within the plugin itself, only on the Moz crawl report. It seems to be a hypersensitivity on the part of Moz, because I’m not seeing the same issues in Google Webmaster Tools, so maybe not worth worrying too much about. Thanks!
@terri, it looks like you have a similar issue to ours, since those two pages you referenced only show blurbs of posts and are almost identical if you take into account all of the sidebar, header & footer content.
Also, thanks for that article – it makes a great point about tags in particular. Much appreciated.
After doing some digging through the Moz forums, I think it’s more an issue that each of those pages created by the Event tags / Event categories have very little content. Is there a way to stop the Events Manager plugin from creating these empty pages?
For example, this page is pretty much blank:
https://www.bienvillehouse.com/events/tags/new-orleans-music/Since Moz is taking headers, footers & sidebars into account when checking for duplicate content, the fact that this page has almost no original content on it is what’s making it show up as a duplicate for pages that would otherwise seem to be unrelated (because they too have little original content).
Is there a setting or a way to stop this plugin from creating these pages for tags & categories?
That’s the weird thing – I don’t think it’s creating duplicate pages or anything like that, it’s that Moz (and probably Google?) is seeing the category and tag pages created by Event Manager as duplicates of each other, even though they’re not the same names / keywords.
It seems to be all related to this plugin somehow, because the duplicate content that Moz is showing in its Crawl Diagnostics is only for the Event categories & tags, not the main tags & categories generated through WordPress.
Just wondering if anyone else using this plugin has seen similar duplicate content issues in Moz?
