Hi, I’m just touching base to see if you’ve found any information for me or if there’s anything I should do on my end to try to get that speed up to 100 (if possible). Thanks!

    Hi,

I’m using Vantage version 1.20.17. I had to find a theme quickly that wouldn’t display errors when using the plugin so I grabbed Vantage. It may not be the best choice but I’ll have to use it for now.

The strange thing is that I developed our new site on a testing server (with the same hosting company) and when I tested the speed it was at 100. I don’t think I made any changes to the site prior to making it live so it should be an exact copy of our test version. It’s just not achieving the same speed. Thanks for your help.

Thank you VERY much for all your effort looking into this. I did need to change to a new theme as well as get rid of revolution slider and I’m no longer getting the javascript errors. Letting me know about rolling back the plugin version also helped. Thanks again for your support!

I got it to work with a different theme and rolled back to version 1.10. I wasn’t seeing the javascript at the top of the page on my usual browser because I was logged in, but saw it on another browser. However, with the new theme and rolled back version I’m not seeing the javascript. And I replaced revolution slider. Now if only my client will go for the changes to the site. ?? The only thing is that the speed is no longer 100. It’s showing about 56 on pagespeed insights.

I came up with a workaround for the revolution slider javascript errors. I have been working on a staging version of the website and I used a different wordpress theme so I don’t have to deal with the limitations of the current theme on the live site. I also replaced revolution slider with the WP Bakery video background, so I can still have the client’s video play on the home page but without having to use revolution slider. Everything seems to work. The page I was trying to speed up is now at 100 on pagespeedinsights. My last problem is that this page is not the one that’s currently ranking for the best keyword. It’s actually the home page. I’d rather have the other page ranking but IF it is the home page then I’d like to speed this up to the same speed. Unfortunately I get a 56 score of pagespeedinsights for the home page (the one with the video background) on mobile devices. Do you have any suggestions as to what more I could do? Thanks. I think I’m ALMOST where I need to be.

I also thought of an alternative. I really only need the speed boost on one particular page for now. I see an option in the settings (under Advance) to put in a single URL. If this worked that would be great. It could potentially alleviate any problem with the slider revolution on the home page. However, I’ve entered the url of the page in question and it causes the whole site to go white. The page that is slow is the one with the best keyword we are trying to rank so speeding up thiis page only would be fine. If only there were no problems when I entered the URL in settings. I mention this just in case this is an easier fix than worrying about revolution slider.

Hi, Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I tried rolling back to the last version (1.0.15) and still get the javascript code at the top of the page and the Slider revolution error text in place of where the slider should be. I tried some earlier versions also including all the way back to 1.0. I get the same code/errors each time.

Note that I am using a theme called “Responsive” (version 3.14) I’m using the child theme. I would change to another theme but my client has some pages constructed in a way that creates more problems so I’m kind of stuck with this theme for now.

I tired a different theme to see if it made any difference and the javascript at the top of the page did go away (I used a free theme called Vantage), but the revolution slider error still showed up on the page.

The error text says I can “fix” the error by putting the js includes into the body of the page (which I did to no effect) but also to “find the double jquery.js include and remove it.” If you have any suggestions on hwere I might find a double jquery.js include to remove it, let me know. Otherwise I’m still stuck with the same problem and unfortunately I have to keep the same theme. It’s full of problems and I can’t even updtate it to the new version because it causes a lot of layout problems.

My main concern is just getting the site speed up since I think the slowness it whats causing our low rankings. I’m open to try anything you suggest. Thanks for all your work on this.

No problem. Thanks for looking into this for me. I appreciate it.

    Hi,

Sorry for the late reply, I don’t think I got a notification that you had posted here. Anyway, in answer to your questions:

Core Web Vitals plugin Version 1.0.14

    Slider Revolution Version 5.4.8

I inherited the plugin when I took over the site so I’m not sure how I would roll back to a previous version.

Also, the revolution slider was included with the theme so it’s not a standalone version and we’re not able to update it (unless we purchased the latest version–and even then I don’t know that would solve things).

I have been doing some testing on my own, too, to see if I can find a solution. While I didn’t find a solution I did find that another plugin generates the same errors. I installed autoptimize and it the settings under Javascript Options, I check the checkbox for “Aggregate all linked JS-files to have them loaded non-render blocking?” When I saved this setting and checked my site on a mobile device I found I got the same javascript appearing at the top of the page and the revolution slider on the home page was replaced by some error text. I don’t know if this will help you in any way but I thought I’d let you know.

Thanks. If I could get this to work without errors I’d be extremely happy. It really does speed things up!

Well I DID have the same problem. I think I thought things were okay but it seems it only looked okay because I was logged in as a wordrpess admin at the time. When I log out and view the site while the plugin is activated I get errors. Here’s a link to the video I made showing the problems. https://www.screencast.com/t/PqZ7kry2C

Well, of course now that I try to reproduce it, the problem is not happening again. I have the plugin installed and active and I am NOT getting that code on the screen. The score on Lighthouse for the mobile version of the page is now 67 (instead of 100) which is better than it was. The only thing I can think of is that there was some sort of plugin conflict with another caching plugin that was active at the same time. If it does recur again I will make a video. As of now it seems to be okay (which is fine with me)

Note: all this referred to the mobile version of my site. When I checked page speed insights for desktop, unfortunately I got a 15 score. :-(. However I don’t see any of the javascript on desktop and I have no problem with the nav menu on this version either.

Duh! I figured it out. I did not select Youtube fetcher from the campaign drop down. I just found it, selected it and ran the campaign. It works! Thanks.
