In reply to: Created child theme – it works but live preview does not showLisa,
Thank you so much. You have been very kind and I do appreciate it. I struggle with all this now as I think my faculties are gradually failing from old age.
I know that there is a massive amount of information online about all aspects of WordPress etc. but sifting or searching for exactly what I need I often find to be just more than that with which I can cope.
Adding that image was simple. I just hadn’t known that I needed to do it.
I apologise to all for probably not putting this query in the right place. I will try to do better in future. Thankfully, this seems to be a great community largely free of the judgmental who quickly pounce, elsewhere, on dolts such as I.
Thanks again.
My apologies for ignorant use of the forum. Please excuse me. To Lisa, who responded with help. Thank you again. I re-tried your code and it worked perfectly. Thank you.

In reply to: Search box semi-hidden when title turned off in Twenty-eleven headerLisa, Thank you for your help and suggestions.
I tried adding the code you suggested to the child theme but with no result.
I am not conversant with CSS so have followed your advice and posted to the twenty-eleven forum. It is probable that I didn’t do it properly.
Much appreciate your help.

In reply to: Demo content for WP themes with classic editorThreadi,
Many thanks for your response and advice. I have been using the tutorials and they are certainly well made. Unfortunately, although they have given me a far clearer understanding of the block concept, when it comes to applying it on my pages, I still can’t see what I expect.
No matter, I will persist and hopefully get there sooner of later. I can see how the block system could be far better than the text based one but, at present, it seems to me to be a curious mixture of both and not anything close to as intuitive as the classic editor.
Even returning to the classic editor doesn’t seem to restore it as it was so I will persevere with Gutenberg and try to hold my frustration in check. I’ve been trying for about a month now and still got nowhere.
I’ll give is another month and if I still can’t achieve anything, cast myself into the deprecated bin and go back to print.
Thanks for your kindness in offering help. I do appreciate it. Take care. Stay safe.

In reply to: PressThis producing error@bcworkz – Sorry for the delay in response. After further investigation I discovered that WordPress has now incorporated the “press this” plugin into WordPress itself. The plugin now evidently does nothing.
I followed the WordPress instructions for activating the new built-in WordPress feature and all has worked well since then. The incorporation has also included a couple of extra features that were not in the original plugin.
However, I really do appreciate that you promptly and in readable language attempted to assist a relative novice. I thank you for that and wish you and yours a pleasant festive season. Thank you again – you are the sort of person we need on forums such as this.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: PressThis producing error@bcworkz Thank you for the prompt response. I will follow your advice and see if it cures the problem, then send another response.
I’ve used this plugin for several months now with absolutely no problems. It works a treat and is really handy for when I’m busy because it allows me to generate new posts for the site without any effort. I also find it useful as the FB posts can give me ideas about what would be useful to develop into topics for articles on the blog. Good plugin – 5 stars

In reply to: Missing callback function – Can't update – Get warning messageTara,
Thank you so much for your help. I had a little difficulty but your advice got me through and I now have my site both updated and back up and running smoothly. I have also made sure that I have a BACKUP – of everything.I am really very grateful for your assistance – it’s a site I built for my wife so you’ve kept me out of the doghouse and I’ve also learned some things I hadn’t realised before.
Your response was very kind – thank you for taking the time and trouble to help. If there is anything that acknowledges your contribution of the member of the forum, I’m happy to give it – for now, YOU ROCK!
Matt, thanks so much for responding to my request for assistance. Your advice was very clear and easy to follow, even for a non-coder such as myself. The guide, too, was very well written and I particularly liked that it gave the *why* of using the CSS, as well as the how.
I tried uploading the recommended plugin and installed it but it didn’t appear in the menu – I think that may be because I am using a free version of the theme and its developer has locked up a number of featurs to encourage users to upgrade to the paid theme.
I then used the jet-pack custom CSS and everything worked like a charm. You have made my day, mate and I really appreciate it. Thank you, again – have a great day, yourself.
