Yes – under Options > Reading…

There is the option to use static pages instead of the “latest posts”. Create two page ie Home & News and the link the front page to Home and the lastest posts to News

Ok – the same thing happened to me. Although I didn’t delete the themes. Any reason why this happens?

Everything was backed up, so it wasn’t an issue, but updating the permalinks worked a treat, just do not know why it worked and that frustrates me.
