Thank you Kevin, but clearing the cache in Chrome and Firefox had no effect. What could I try next?

Continuing from above: Without me making any changes, the logo situation has changed yet again. When opening the page the logo is invisible, but then works correctly when you begin to scroll. Thank you for your help.

Please could you indicate what edits can be made to the child theme so that I can accomplish a wider page. Many thanks.

I had to do a complete reinstall of wordpress to fix this problem.

This problem seems to have been browser related and only appeared on Google’s Chromebox.

For what it’s worth – I had to do a complete re-install of all of WordPress to fix this problem, but now all is well.

I have subsequently, completely removed the Make theme and it’s child, then re-installed them, only to have the same problem. Is it possible that the removal of Make didn’t erase the theme completely, because when I re-installed it, all my previous customizations were still there? How can I re-install Make completely?

Thank you for the suggestion, but I’m afraid that didn’t help. I deactivated all the plug-ins and had the same experience. The menu worked on all pages except the home page. (This remains only a problem on smartphones – everything is working as I would like and expect on tablets and computers). Any other suggestions?
