RESOLVED: I needed the php4 modules for apache2

I’m having the same problem, coupled with shoot self in foot syndrom.

Had working WP installation, ran a aptitude upgrade (debian/Ubuntu package manager). Now WP is broken, or rather the db dependency is broken.

MySQL is installed, I can login manually with the WP admin credentials. So it seems that the Apache – MySQL connection is broken. Gallery gives the error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect()

double checking shows the php/mysql package is installed. restarting mysql and apache does not help.

Yup, that’s exactly what I had in mind. Someone may care about the restaurant’s I’ve commented on, what bike rides are going on, but be repulsed by my politics.
