I actually struggle with this annoying issue as well. I don’t understand it because shouldn’t the sitemap update when pages are deleted in wordpress? Or does google just not read the updated sitemap?

Kevin, you might want to at least do what I do for now, which is a plugin called 404-to-start and directs all 404 errors to the homepage and this will prevent you from having these errors in webmaster tools..and apparently this also helps with SEO but im not an expert on this one.

Yes, I actually run about 4 multisite networks and I have tried this plugin on all 4 of them to change the super admin username with no issues or complications (thankfully)

Better WP Security is something I mentioned in another post to someone else and it works like a charm on Multisite and does what you are trying to do with a click of a button. If you don’t need the rest of the plugin’s functions you can deactivate it after making the change of the admin username.

There is actually a much easier way to do this! You can use a plugin called “Better WP Security” which allows you to do it with one click of a button. I have done this on several of my sites with ease and no complications

If you don’t need any of the other functionality of that great plugin you can simple deactivate it completely after you are done changing the admin username. Works like a charm!
