I figured it out. There was another plugin called AddOn Suite for WPadverts that when activated causes this problem. I deactivated it and I am good to go.

Setting WP_DEBUG to true didn’t display any error. There are no errors in the error_log file for the server either.

I was able to recreate the problem. I started a new page and added the shortcode to add an advertisement. I was able to save it, but could not go back and edit that page without getting the 500 error. This has something to do with the shortcode. We even increased the memory limit on the site.

This problem is extremely frustrating. I have another site that has more products and they show on the management screen just fine. Help???

Thanks Phil! I appreciate all your help. Been using wordpress for some time and keep learning more and more about how to customize it.

so, if post.php and media.php exist in the root of the child theme, those will take precedence over the files in wp-includes?

SO if I have wp-content/themes/MyTheme and I create a child theme I will have wp-content/themes/MyTheme-child and inside of that folder I just add a post.php and media.php (in addition to the style.css and functions.php)?

Limit searches is set and it is at 500.

So, indexing worked and I have my settings set the way I want and yet I search “build better biceps” which is in at least one of my post titles and I get one result that has nothing to do with the search term. See https://fitnessexpose.com for this in action. Any ideas?

Mikko, thanks for the tip! That allowed the indexing to happen. I have reviewed the file it references and this is the tag I find is [checkout_form]. Hope that helps.

I deactivated all plugins and it still fails to activate. It works on other sites. Could something be in the .htaccess causing this?

Wow! Thanks for your help that fixed the problem. However, why is it that I just finished on https://hoopershookup.com and we have Meta Slider embedded in text widgets all over the place and it works? Can you tell me what is different because that site is running 2.2.1 of Meta Slider.
