In reply to: [Classic Editor] Do I need the Classic Editor plugin?Thank you, Andrew. Just clear up one more thing for me, please: my site consists of only pages, no posts. Does that make any difference?
Thanks, Adam.
Yes, I had read the documentation, but was unclear as to how concerned I should be. After the website was hacked six years ago, it’s something I don’t want to go through again.
The plugin in question is the tPlayer Audio Player for WordPress, found on the Code Canyon site. But I have begun the search for a suitable replacement.
So, until I can replace the plugin, I can consider it not to be a vulnerability, as it is current?
Oh, yes: I ALWAYS make backups before making modifications.
Thanks for confirming that my modification method should go without incident, and for your speedy replies. It’s much appreciated!
Mike
Thanks, Peter.
Great info. I watched the video.
My site’s Admin account is the only user account, and my username and password are both uncommon and long (18+ characters). The site is configured to allow automatic updates of my theme and plugins (which are few), and I log in every morning to check the site’s status. So I’m very security-conscious.
The code I’d like to add to my htaccess file is that which will block referral spam; code that was successfully used prior to my beginning use of Wordfence.
My concern is whether I can upload the modified htaccess file (leaving Wordfence content untouched) via ftp without Wordfence seeing it as a threat and locking me out.
There doesn’t seem to be a means of searching Wordfence help for this concern. Are you able to provide a link?
Many thanks.
Mike

Thanks, Peter.
Thank you, Luckyna.
UPDATE:
After doing some exploring, all things now point to this being a case of referrer (or referral) spam.
I was hoping to eventually report this issue has cleared, but Site Kit reported this morning that 621 users apparently visited my site yesterday (April 10) alone and, again, the URL appears as (not set).
To be clear, I am not suggesting there is a problem with the Site Kit plugin (I don’t know enough to make that kind of suggestion), but I cannot understand what would cause these sudden spikes in page views.
Thanks, Luckyna.
When viewing the last 14 days, the (not set) entry is still visible.
My site has been https for at least two years or more, and has never used a staging URL.
The only URL displayed by Analytics is the correct one.
Thanks!
With still barely any experience with Google Analytics or Site Kit, I never thought to change the view but, no, the (not set) entry is not visible when viewing the past seven days.
Thanks, Luckyna.
I don’t remember if I shared this earlier but, unlike the stats for actual pages, the page views for the (not set) entry have not changed since I first noticed this issue. And I wonder if this is in any way related to an event on March 23 (last week) when the number of site visitors suddenly spiked. According to Google Analytics, at 8:00 am that day, the number of visitors jumped, then returned to “normal.” There were 327 users (all new) and 361 sessions (of about 9 seconds each), totaling 721 page views.
If that is related to the (not set) entry, then perhaps the entry will clear once 28 days have passed.
Maybe that information will be helpful to you.
Thanks again.

Site Kit has been reset and Analytics reconnected and configured, but nothing has changed.
The most popular content in the Site Kit dashboard is:
1: (not set)
2: my home page titleNote: on the line directly below each of those two entries, the slash character (/) appears all by itself.
If I click on EITHER (not set) or my home page title, I am directed to a Site Kit page titled Detailed Page Stats, for my home page title.
However, if I instead click on the slash character below each of those things, I am directed to my home page.
My home page URL has not been modified recently; at least not since beginning to use the Site Kit plugin.
I will now try your suggestion to reset Site Kit and reconnecting Analytics.
Thanks again, Luckyna.
Thanks, Luckyna.
According to Site Kit, my site’s most popular page is the home page, which (not set) is linked to. All of the home page content cannot be captured in a single screenshot because scrolling is necessary to see it all. Would a link to the home page be helpful to you, or is there another way to capture and share a screenshot?
As for your second question, there are no (not set) values shown.
Thanks, Luckyna,
I have not changed what the homepage displays since originally setting it as a static page and to the correct page title.
Also, I tried the cache clearing method you suggested, as well as disconnecting and reconnecting the Analytics module, but they did not have any effect.
However, if the Site Kit data I provided shows you everything I see in my dashboard, note the large spike in page views on March 23, which immediately returned to normal the following day. I’m wondering if that is related to the (not set) page title.
Thank you for your help!
