In reply to: Stripslash modification working too wellThanks for the reply. I’m using wp1.5. I don’t do anything with any WYSIWYG tools. It’s easier and faster for me to write my own mark-up. I suppose, the way this is going, I’ll have to change that line back to the way it was and insert code in pre. But I really didn’t want to do that because I’d have to add more to the CSS as code is already defined another way that isn’t compatible inside pre, so I have redefine it when it’s within pre to remove the styles from the code only selector.
The plugin you mentioned, after reading into it some, didn’t inspire confidence, I afraid.
I know it’s got to be something very simple. I can’t put my finger on it. I can write an autop script and incorporate smartypants, but that’s not the right way to deal with this situation.
Does anyone else have another suggestion?

In reply to: NEW! Beast Blog Theme ReleasedHello Deano,
You have to edit the image itself with image editing software like Fireworks or another program that can work with uncompressed PNG files (I think Photoshop can do it). I include the native image files, even the fonts used, as part of the download for just that purpose.
If you cannot edit the images and still want to use the theme, please contact me off forum https://green-beast.com/contact/ as I can help you out.
You will still want to make sure the blog is named in the admin CP because that name will still show up if CSS but images are off.
I hope this helps.

In reply to: Footer?I noted something on your site that you need to fix as it’ll cause problems. It’s the comments added, they have mulitple dashes and that’s not allowable.
Comments should be like this:
<!-- This is a comment -->
And they can contain characters:
<!-- ******* Comment ********** -->
But they cannot cotain instances of multile (2 or more) hyphens except at the beginning and close of the comment:
<!-- This is -- not -- alowable -->
<!---------- Nor is this --------->
Not sure it’s related to your issue, but it is something I noticed.

In reply to: New ThemeI would have to review the files redalert5. I don’t know you’d be having an error. I noted that your current weblog in three columns, and looks modded. Could there be an incompatability to hard-coding edits made previously?

In reply to: Amazing blix mod – how to do?I would encourage experimentation, solidfan, it’s a great way to learn. Just be sure to make a good back-up copy of the CSS to begin with (and any files you edit), then make tiny single changes and check those changes on different browsers as you go, one at a time, going very slowly and methodically. Learning it will empower you.
Hard-coding could mean he has added inline style information right in the template files, or has taken out site variables and written them in (site name, description, etc.), or it could mean he has added classes and IDs to elements that the default template files do not have. It could also mean some styling was actually done with HTML using strong, em, b, i, and small elements, and maybe even some headings (though I doubt the latter is the case).
The latter is what I did in my recent “Beast Blog” theme release https://green-beast.com/blog/?page_id=58. It has custom classes in addition to what’s provided, thus the theme has some hard-coding. In my version of the theme https://green-beast.com/blog/ (v.1.0) for my own use, I have a number of hard-coded items that wouldn’t be easy for someone to use. The release version (v.1.1) isn’t like this as it was designed specifically as a public theme.

I’m pretty sure I dotted my Ts and crossed my Is. ?? I sure hope I didn’t mess anything up. I’m pretty comfortable with it. Tests well, anyway. Please report any bugs or make comments here: https://green-beast.com/blog/?p=59
I did include the native image files as well as the fonts used in the banner. And a nice README with all the dos and don’ts.
Enjoy. And thanks for the help and encouragement.
Sincerely,
