I am having the same issue using IE8.
Both the header and footer menu is showing vertically.
I have tried all the Font Awesome fixes I have found in the forum but the problem still remains.
I can stop the error by removing the enqueue function for Font Awesome from functions.php but I then lose the display of the Font Awesome Icons.
Any help would be much appreciated.
