In reply to: Google PageRank different in WP AdminYeah I was sure that Google only sees finished pages, regardless of includes, but then why does my wp-admin have my old PageRank and the rest of the site has none? That doesn’t make sense. The directory for WP has changed since the old site too.
Also, I have noticed that many pages on my site are non-indexable by XML sitemap generators, and if I try to validate some pages on W3C’s XHTML validator, it says it can’t access the page and that it got a 404. These pages appear to be ones ending in a specific .php extension – https://www.migthegreek.com/contact.php – as opposed to a slash – https://www.migthegreek.com/scraps/
I don’t know what’s going on, or what’s special about my wp-admin directory.

In reply to: Adding AdvertisementsSo are you saying that you want to be able to write a post, then copy and paste an ad into it, so it appears just for that post?
It would probably be far less hassle, particularly in the long run, if you integrated an ad script into part of your template files. You might consider just placing one at the bottom of the sidebar, or at the bottom of the page in the footer if you want it to be less obtrusive.
Also worth considering: having a consistent ad placement is probably more likely to produce revenue – assuming that is why you want to use ads in the first place.

In reply to: Trouble Adding Google AnalyticsYes, to add Analytics to your blog, I believe you should add it above the </body> tag in footer.php for whichever template you are using.
Basically, the Google Analytics code snippet should be the very last thing on every page of your website, whether you’re using WordPress or not. With your WordPress blog, the last thing that gets added to each and every page will be footer.php, so here is where you should put your Analytics code.
Mine works fine like this.

In reply to: Adding WP on Home PageGreat, thanks.
But I also want the sidebar and stuff in there. Also the link at the bottom to previous posts so the users can keep reading back if they want to.
My idea was just to keep the WP folder seperate from everything else so I don’t have to build the whole index of my site within the WP-content/themes/mytheme folder.

In reply to: PHP Access ViolationThe exact error message is:
PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 7C83248B
If it helps. I googled that, including the string at the end, and it returns many results. So the string is obviously not unique to me.

In reply to: PHP Access ViolationBut I really don’t get that much traffic. I have about 400 page views a day. Surely if 8M is the default, most websites have no problem?

In reply to: PHP Access ViolationIs that the sort of thing they would charge me for?
Does it depend on the amount of PHP scripts which are running (i.e. proportional to how much traffic I am getting)?

In reply to: What are Ping and Trackback?Ok, even more confused now ??
Just a simple yes or no then – is it a problem for me to link to another post?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Image UploadsIf this needs to be simplified, I just meant is it ok to put relative links to images on my site that aren’t in the database?
I don’t want to put images through the upload.

In reply to: What are Ping and Trackback?Hmm… still slightly confused.
Dooes the internal trackback present a problem where I want to link to another post of mine? Won’t I just be putting the URL in the anchor’s href? I don’t understand where the ‘surrounding text’ would come from in a case like that.
Also, when I click on the trackback link under one of my own posts, it doesn’t do anything. What should it do or what will it do for another user?

In reply to: Changing WordPress Directory NameYep. Cool, thanks for the info. I will read through that link you posted.

In reply to: Changing WordPress Directory Name“You can make your changes 1st – no problem”
No, I have a ton of posts to make first, THEN change the directory. Is that a problem, or does it make no difference?

In reply to: Before I Install ThisHi, thanks for the reply.
What I meant about changing directory was if I change the folder name, will I need to update any references in the files within?
With the second question, I am not so interested in the look of the blog, it’s the layout. I want to add *my* navigation menu and headers, etc. around the blog, exactly how I have it at the moment on other pages.
Is that easily do-able?
