In reply to: [Clicky by Yoast] [Plugin: Clicky by Yoast] Parse Error with Update 1.4.1I downloaded the updated version and the error is still happening. Interesting thing is that the error shows up several minutes after I activate or reinstall the plugin, and it also happened a few times after I deleted the plugin.

In reply to: Slow WordPress and Not sure Where to TurnI forgot to mention that the P3 Plugin Performance Profiler also checks your core and theme time.

In reply to: Slow WordPress and Not sure Where to TurnTry the P3 Plugin Performance Profiler and scan it 5 or 6 times in a row so you can get a good idea of what’s really slowing down your website. If you haven’t already done it, check out YSlow, Google Page Speed, Webpagetest.org, and Pingdom Tools. Alexa can also audit your site and can give you a lot of instructions to speed it up (but you have to pay for the full report).

In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] [Plugin: BackWPup] Update loopSorry for the late-ish response, but I got it to work. I like the new features, by the way and have rated it five stars.

In reply to: Unwanted ads popping up on my wordpress blogI strongly recommend you wipe your computer clean. Like pkwooster said, it’s probably coming from your computer. Your computer might be so deeply infected that it’s very easy for them to hack you.
It’s very important to keep everything updated, including Firefox. If you have the funds, hire an encryptor to secure everything. If you do actually clean out your computer, completely reinstall WordPress (get a fresh copy). It’s a good idea to get the Ultimate Security Checker, BulletProof Security and 6Scan plugins. Secure your themes and make sure you use secure FTP.
FTP is probably the easiest. If you don’t have it already, download FileZilla at https://filezilla-project.org. Don’t worry, it’s free. I used an older version (3.3.4) until I figured out the newest version.
Had this problem too, which really saddens me. I love this plugin and I really hope they update this one.
This happened to me just now. But this wasn’t the only problem I’ve encountered with this plugin; two weeks ago it did this to me:
Permissions: Please check permissions on wp-config.php. Quick Cache needs write-access to this file. Permissions need to be 755 or higher.
Permissions: Please check permissions on wp-content. Quick Cache needs write-access to this directory. Permissions need to be 755 or higher.
And I wasn’t the only one having this problem.
These errors are easily fixable, of course, but they are irritating. The only other plugin I’ve encountered this kind of problem with was W3 Total Cache, but it was just one time. It looks like Quick Cache is more “simple” than the other caching plugins, maybe that’s a factor? I’ll go ask others in the meantime.

In reply to: ThemeForest ThemesI looked at the free themes, but I was just looking for some fancier themes, that’s all. I haven’t seen any bad reviews on ThemeForest and I was wondering if it truly is that good. A few people have been warning me about possible malicious code in the themes, and since I’m so security conscious, I was on the fence about seriously considering or purchasing ThemeForest themes.

Try https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/scanner/ and https://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=www.example.com (replace example.com with your website name). They could be false positives (I had the “
require_once(ABSPATH . ‘wp-admin/upgrade-functions.php’) on several occasions even though I was clean), but look on blacklisting/scanner sites to make sure.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: "User registration is currently not allowed."Yep, I’m still having problems with my server. If I go to some website or reload a page, it suddenly “can’t find the server” or “oops, link appears to be broken.” The screen would be like that for a few minutes, then get back to normal. It’s been going on for about 4-5 months now, and I still have no idea what’s causing it. It might be AVG-related, but that’s my best guess.
