In reply to: [Football Pool] Shoutbox and Active UsersThat’s good, I think that would be a useful feature for the future.
What also might be useful, along similar lines, is to show the drop-off of users as the competition progresses. So matches played on an X Axis against players still predicting on the Y axis or shown via an equivalent table
That way at any point throughout the competition I could see the number of players still predicting/playing.
I’m coming at this from a marketing point of view so I could look at ways of preventing non performing players from stopping, by enticing them with spot prizes or an overall prize if they complete the game.
Just a thought as the latter might kill two birds with one stone.
Thanks

In reply to: [Football Pool] Shoutbox and Active UsersAh I didn’t know you had widgets!
An active user would be a user with predictions placed.
Just a simple snapshot like this for future competitions would be good.
Active Users : 175
Predictions : 2000I guess you could then list individual users & predictions too to see who those active users are, useful but not essential.
Just something to gauge the interest in the game prior to kick-off. I found out after kick-off that I had 175 customers playing. Which is good, just something I would have been happier knowing about in advance, so I could react if necessary.
Just one other small thing. You have links to the teams on ‘Matches’ but not on ‘Add predictions’ is that intentional? Actually, thinking about it, maybe you didn’t want to take them away from the form? You could open in a new window though.
Anyway great plugin. Thanks

In reply to: [World Cup Predictor] Manually Adapt for Rugby World Cup?Yes I can see that you can change teams etc, but looking at the problem in more depth, it’s the scoring system for Rugby which is going to be the most difficult. Have decided to shelve the idea for now. Thanks for your reply.

In reply to: Administrator OK but a Fatal error for the editor? That makes sense and gives me more confidence in making the changes. Thanks Dion.

In reply to: Administrator OK but a Fatal error for the editor? Thanks esmi for the response, however that does not explain why it works ok as an administrator but not as an editor. Also I had a simialr memory error a while back when I added 17,000 posts to the site and I lost the side bar with a fatal error. Raising the PHP memory allocation to 64Mb worked but, scripts should not really be taking that much memory. The actual problem was down to the number of tags that were also imported and trying to display, a simple re-write to the script only showed the popular tags and I could put the memory allocation back to 32Mb. So it’s worth checking code and plugins for efficiency before upping the memory willy-nilly and taking an unecessary server resource.
Anyway at this time I still don’t know the answer. Anyone?
