Have you changed anything about your installation between the plugin working and not working, such as updating the WordPress version or installing or updating other plugins?

Do you have any other plugins installed? If so, do you still get the error with the other plugins disabled?

Do you get the error on all documents, or just specific documents?

Given the error you’ve described, the most likely problem is that the documents you’re uploading aren’t supported by the plugin for some reason. Since the documents I have seem to be working correctly, I’m afraid I can’t help you without an example document.

I’ve tried uploading documents on a plain WordPress 5.7.1 install with the plugin installed, and it seems to work fine, so I can’t really investigate any further without an example document. The other possibility is that there’s a problematic interaction with other plugins you have installed, or your theme, so you could try disabling any other plugins. Given the error you’re getting, my first step would be to check the document though.

The plugin isn’t abandoned. If you’re able to successfully upload some documents, but not others, then that’s likely an issue in parsing some documents. If you can share minimal example documents that are causing issues, then I can investigate them.

Hmm, if you’re able to make the post successfully, I’m not sure why you wouldn’t then be able to edit it. Mammoth should just be producing fairly normal HTML.

Is the indentation caused by the CSS on your site, or is it actually inserting three space characters? If the latter, then presumably it’s three non breaking space characters?

I’m not sure there’s any recent changes to Mammoth that would have caused this. Are you running any other plugins or custom themes? Do you have the same issue when they’re disabled?

So far as I know, the plugin works fine on WordPress 5.6.

I’ve just tried using Mammoth with the latest version of WordPress, and it seems to be working fine. Issues are normally caused by interactions between Mammoth and other plugins or themes. Unfortunately, this is just a spare time project for me, so I can’t afford to spend time checking compatibility with lists of plugins.

Also, do still have issues when running with the default theme and no other plugins running?

Just to check: when you uploaded the test documents, they still failed to insert into the editor when you hit the button? And after you’d hit the button and the content didn’t appear in the editor, there weren’t any additional messages in the Mammoth UI nor the console other than the ones you’ve already mentioned?

If you try using a simple Word document just containing a sentence of text, do you get the same problem? If not, could you provide an example document?

What browser and operating system are you using?

Do you see any messages appear in the Messages tab?

If you open up the developer tools using F12, do you see any errors in the Console?

I’m afraid Mammoth doesn’t support bulk import of documents.

Mammoth has a few different implementations, including in JavaScript and Python. If you want to use Mammoth from PHP, I think the only way to do so would be to have Mammoth installed and available from the command line, and then to invoke the executable from PHP.
