Perma-what? Lol, there we go again with the techno-jargon, but I do understand where you’re coming from. And it’s annoying that this information regarding things like Fantastico are now readily obvious to users, whose time is precious enough. No matter, I’m resorting to Wix now: it’s eminently suited to web-luddites like myself. Appreciate your time once again.

….but you would concede that a moderator ( presumably an expert on this ) clearly indicated in, response to my query, that I should add ……..(code) “to the top of your WordPress .htaccess file”, which would suggest to me that such a file existed! There’s no mention of having to create this myself.

I read the words, but I don’t understand their context, within the weird and wonderful world of code.

I’ve since been contacted by my server support with this reply:

“The version on Fantastico is the most updated version which is compatible with Fantastico and cPanel; there is no need to update once the version is installed. Later updates need to be done via Fantastico.

    Sincerely,

    DH2-Heather”

The version of WP on Fantastico is 3.0!

Hmmmmm. No wonder the poor, inexperienced end-user gets totally confused. Thanks for your input.

Code is poetry, but none of it rhymes to me…..

Where is this .htaccess file?! I’ve not found it. I’ve looked in the Word Press folder: not there. Am I the only person who thinks that Word Press is a pig to use and/or install?! This is my last attempt at unravelling this.

Lol, OK,that’s it, I’m outta here. This is w-a-a-ay too complicated for me. Think I’ll just get someone else to build my website for me. Can’t waste any more brain cells trying to figure out this foreign language. I would have stuck with the childishly simple Wix, except, it too cranky and didn’t play my audio reliably.

Really, though, I appreciate your help and time, but it’s lost on me.

Thanks, esmi, but I’m a website/codebuilder idiot/virgin. Where is that file to be found, and how does it relate to the automated download function? Appreciate your reply (and patience ) with this Homer Simpson of the webcode world. BTW, I’m a Mac user…..
