    Hi Jason,

I went through the entire setup process again, using your manual configuration settings, and newly-created credentials in the Console. Everything looks normal and saves properly, but I get exactly the same “invalid envelope” error. Cannot send.

    Hi Jason,

Thanks for the super-fast response ??

You’re exactly correct on that last point, the “invalid envelope” error was from my last attempt, after I had gone through the entire setup.

Yes, this is the same hosting environment as my last project which worked great with Postman – it’s Siteground shared hosting plan. The difference is that this time, we are attempting to route mail through Gmail, instead of the Siteground mail server.

I’ll try the advanced config now, and get back to you. Thanks!

    Hi Devlin,

If this issue can’t be resolved today for some reason, how can I get the old version of the plugin? I need to show at least general functionality to a client tomorrow morning. A little freaked-out at the moment . . .

    Hi Devin,

Just updated to 1.3.0.1 but I’m still seeing a similar issue, locked out of dashboard.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home/michae00/staging/3/wp-content/plugins/give/includes/admin/shortcodes/class-shortcode-button.php on line 129

    I’m running PHP 5.6.13

I tested everything again. In manual mode Pastacode is introducing many new linefeeds. My original code is 25 lines, Pastacode displays it as 99 lines. If I attempt to edit the code within Pastacode itself, the extra lines are obvious. The only fix is to manually delete the extra lines in Text mode, or in the Pastacode editor. The Prism plugin works as advertised, displays exactly 25 lines in text mode, visual mode, and the WordPress page, but it lacks features I would like to have. Here’s a screenshot showing the extra lines: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0lc9r1zgzu4a1a1/pastacode-09-05-2015-01.png?dl=0

I just spent 15 minutes posting a follow-up message to answer your questions, but not I don’t see it here. The seems to be a real problem with this forum software, same experience yesterday. Extremely slow to update, not really sure if post published, etc. Developers should complain to www.remarpro.com — it’s a crappy support experience.

Hi Willy, sorry for the delay, I somehow missed your update.

I just re-tested PastaCode vs. Prism. Just as before, when I paste my code (which does not include any extra lines) into PastaCode using Manual mode, Pastacode immediately introduces many extra line feeds which are visible in the Text mode of the WordPress editor. Also, if I then try to edit my code in the Pastacode editor, the extra lines are obvious. My original code is 25 lines. In Pastacode, there are 99 lines — mostly blanks of course. The only way to fix the issue is to manually delete the extra lines in the text editor, which I’m NOT going to do ??

    See screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0lc9r1zgzu4a1a1/pastacode-09-05-2015-01.png?dl=0

With Prism, the code displays properly (exactly 25 lines) in the visual editor, the text editor, and on the WordPress page.

Clearly, something’s wrong with PastaCode’s manual mode.

I’d like to use Pastacode because of the customization options, please look into this. I have not tried @faeldrays solution Pastebin solution, but that really should not be necessary.

    Thanks Matt, that helps!

I do have two quick follow-up questions — will reach out to you by chat today.

OK Frank, fair enough, I’ve raised my rating to a neutral three stars, and changed the title to better reflect my experience. I’ll try tweaking your plugin if time permits. However, let me expand on a couple of points:

After having spent many hours with W3 Total Cache and most of the other minify / combine plugins, my personal take is that it’s not worth the time fiddling with this stuff. There may be an small benefit if one wants to get into testing, tweaking, re-testing. It’s not for me. Others our welcome to do so. I’d rather go for simple solution that gets me 80% – 90% of the way, with very little trouble. I’m getting that with WordFence and MaxCDN.

On to the CDN. I should have clarified that I don’t think geographic distribution, serving from the closest server, makes any significant difference for my purposes here in the U.S. If one has a global business, then sure. However, using multiple hosts that permit parallel downloading to the browser does make a difference in my experience. So I’ve setup cdn1.domain.com, cdn2.domain.com, etc. A total of four.

For me, WordFence caching reduces load time by about 50%. I get another 25% when the CDN is enabled. I’m ending up a little below 1 second on my client’s site, and an AAAAB rating on webpagetest.org. I did notice though that while Pingdom shows a clear benefit from the CDN, webpagetest.org does not. Go figure, I don’t know who to believe, but it may not matter. The site is still respectably snappy.

So if I had to rank tactics, I would say:

    1. Caching
    2. CDN
    3. Minify / Combine

@bompus Fantastic, thank you. I ended up changing the dates with phpmyadmin. Along with tens of thousands of other users, I’m really looking forward to v.3 Happy Thanksgiving!

@bompus This is a serious, limiting problem — cannot enter legit reviews taken from other sources such as Demandforce with their correct dates. The date that appears on the review page is the entry date. I’m familiar with how the edit should work, but it doesn’t stick. Reverts to the entry date. There’s no way to edit or override that date regardless if the review is unapproved or approved. So, all reviews entered on a given date look spammy simply because they all have the same date.
