In reply to: Create New SiteHello Mika,
Thank you for the suggestions. I have managed to get things working, finally. I’m not sure about everything that I did, but I have a system that does what I need, for now, so I’m happy with that.
As you can guess, this is all new to me. I used to run computer help desk, but that was 15 years ago, when you had version of Windows that you could kick into shape! I have lost track of developments and have spent the last few years trying to catch up.
Anyway, as I said, I now have a system that does what I currently need, so thank you for your kind and valuable assistance.

In reply to: Create New SiteHello Mika,
Thank you for your response. I made the mistake of not installing the network plugin and this caused the above problems. Therefore, that part is now resolved.
However, I now have a problem connecting to the dashboard of my new site because it keeps telling me that I have to enable cookies. I have tried a considerable number of tweaks, but nothing seems to work. I even have my host provider working on it. So if you have any ideas I would be grateful.
Regards,
Michael

In reply to: Create New SiteJust to be clear, I do not want the second site to be part of the main site. I do not want posts to be shared unless I choose to do so. These are to be separate websites.

In reply to: New Installation = Photos not uploadingNothing worked for me. I discussed this with my hosting provider and they changed the permissions for me because I could find no way to do this.

In reply to: 3.7.1 Media Library not working properlyHello Esmi.
I’m not so sure that this topic has been resolved by the WordPress community, yet.
However, my hosting provider has changed the permissions of the uploads folder to 755 and the permissions of all the image files to 644. This seems to have worked.
I hope that this helps others in the same position.

In reply to: New Installation = Photos not uploadingI have managed to update my profile photo. But I can still only add photos to posts and pages using the hyperlink to a non-WordPress directory.

In reply to: New Installation = Photos not uploadingIf I insert a picture into a post, the HTML link shows up, but no photo. If I click on the link, I get Error 403:

In reply to: New Installation = Photos not uploadingI get a “Broken Link” icon. If I click on edit the file I get a blank box.
The folder and file permission reads 600.
Following an instruction, earlier, I have unticked the box instructing WordPress to keep each photo in monthly files. Before I did this the permission was set to 744.

In reply to: 3.7.1 Media Library not working properlyunder Settings –> Media, there’s a path for saving images
I don’t have this box.
In Media >Settings I unchecked the ‘organise my images in month- and year based folders’ box and the problem went away.
This doesn’t work for me.
