Testing completed.
As I’m preparing the next release I’ve reviewed this issue and don’t have enough information to understand and mitigate it. So, I’m closing it. Feel free to start another thread with more information if there’s any interested in my pursuing this further.
I will be addressing this reported issue over the next few weeks.
For those interested, I now have some time to update this plugin. Sometime over the next several weeks a new version with on fix will be posted.
Sorry, another side project has been and continues to consume all of my time. After one I owe this a little more TLC.
It’s not clear to me how I might adapt the plugin to help you. The premise is that a fixed number of items go into a box and the box size and quantity determine cost. If you are mixing free shipping with non-free shipping items, this plugin doesn’t feel like a good fit for your use case. Let me know more about what you have in mind.
If you have a test environment to play with I’d be curious to know if 1) installing this plugin without activating it triggers the issue you observed. If not, then 2) a simple activate followed by a deactivate without changing any of the settings. And if that still doesn’t trigger the issue you observed, 3) if changing and saving a setting and then deactivating triggers it.
If you only have the one production environment, I don’t recommend that you experiment.
Apologies for the delay with getting the requested fix applied. My personal time has been in very short supply lately due to competing projects.
I’ve tested with no problem, but haven’t yet updated the plugin information to reflect this because I also have work on a requested fix pending.
After considerable thought and searching the internet to see if others have had similar issues, I’m at a loss since I cannot reproduce what you are seeing. If you can remove the plugin entirely and confirm that removal clears the issue, that would be a start. If removal does not clear the issue, that would be an interesting data point in that it would suggest that there’s a cache mechanism in place that we’ve not considered.
Testing of the fix has gone well. Deployment delayed due to a request to investigate another issue with the plugin. Have been stymied by that second request since it seems to be limited to a single user’s environment. If my schedule permits, will get your requested fix out this weekend. If I’m delayed, I can send you the new version out-of-band if you are open to that and willing to review the code before using it.
When I deactivate the plugin (but not delete it) I no longer see it listed in the shipping zone settings. Checking my reference website’s cart, I no longer see the custom shipping calculations that it performs. The plugin appears to deactivate correctly. Do you have any additional information that might help me understand your specific scenario? As it stands the plugin appears to work as intended.

Thanks for reporting these two issues and apologies for the inconvenience. I work to reproduce the problems and make corrections.
I’ve confirmed that this is a bug per WC documentation: <https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/managing-products/>.
The fix has been written. Will need to set up for testing this new code.
Thanks for reporting the bug. I’ll investigate and fix.
Glad the new feature is working for you. Thank you for making the case that it is exactly what this plugin needed.
cheers
