In reply to: Twent Fourteen Header WidthThanks but that just does the small menu bar below the header.
I think because it is an optional custom header template it must be somewhere in there.
Hi,
Yes, Firefox 26
If you follow this link, the images in the post should open in Carousel.
Cheers

In reply to: Twent Fourteen Header WidthIt appears that whatever width you set the site to, this doesn’t bypass the crop function in the header customiser, which will always crop the image to the default max width of 1260.
The only way round this is to alter to the max width values in custom-header.php.
I’d still be interested to know how to set the background colour for the masthead space, that way you could use a transparent GIF and not have to worry about width settings.

In reply to: Twent Fourteen Header WidthThanks for the replies. I should have said that I’m using Twenty Fourteen extended plug-in to alter the width of the site, and CSS plug-in for minor CSS tweaks.
Unfortunately, that header width setting didn’t do the trick. The image doesn’t need to stretch the full width if I could just find a way to alter the header space background colour.
Sorry to hijack someone else’s thread, I’m getting the same issue and as he hasn’t posted back, here goes.
It happens in Firefox, the image scroll arrow covers the browser scroll bar on the right. Clicking on the scroll bar arrow on the browser actually changes the picture. For me this has been a problem since Carousel was introduced.
I also find it not ideal that you have to scroll down anyway. Meta data and comments boxes are great but people probably don’t notice them, and if they do, it’s not easy to get to them when the browser scroll bar is largely hidden.
Here is a screen shot which I hope explains better than my waffle.
https://markkneen.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/carousel.jpgIt works better in IE but images are offset to the right which doesn’t look great.

In reply to: [Twenty Fourteen] Problem setting up home page and grid layoutTo get the grid to display you have to put a tag in each of the posts you want displayed. Under featured content in options you will see that the default tag is ‘featured’, add that word to the tags for the posts you want featured (make sure they have a featured image too)
It doesn’t have to be ‘featured’, you can change it to whatever you want in options (slider, grid, home etc) but obviously whatever the word is you set, this is what the grid looks for in your post tags. Up to 6 can be displayed and it just pulls the most recent 6.
The grid will still display whether you have the home page set to a static page or latest posts.

In reply to: [Twenty Fourteen] Centering the blogBest solution is to use “Fourteen Extended” plug-in… one check box and bang, it’s in the middle. Gives you a whole bunch of other stuff to play around with too.

In reply to: [Xmas Lights] Lights behind my menuTried it but to no avail, also changed to position:relative, still nothing
Odd as it works fine on my other blog.
I tried a different lights plugin but that’s the same… must be an issue with the theme.

In reply to: [Xmas Lights] Lights behind my menuGreat thanks, I’ll try that. Do I put that inside the script tags?

In reply to: [Xmas Lights] Lights behind my menuSame problem. I have one blog where they work fine but another and they can’t be seen… I think they appaer behind the site background.
