In reply to: [Exoplanet] Word limit on home pageI do see a page like the one you referred me to and that is where I have been writing.
I did what you suggested: I went to the customizer navigated to Static Front Page and checked the box next to ‘Show Page Content On Front Page’. I also went to both ‘Featured Services’ and ‘About Us Section’ and checked the boxes next to ‘Disable Featured Section’ and ‘Disable About Section’
It’s getting closer. Now, if you scroll down, you can see my content on the home page. But it is a duplicate of what I have under “Home” on the slider and it is kind of hidden. What I’d like to be able to do is to have it simply say “Home”, i.e., no other text, and for the page’s actual text to be visible in the white section below without having to scroll down to see it. In other words, I’d like the slider, and layout to be like it is on the other pages (just a small ribbon at the top). Can you point me in the right direction for that? Thanks!

In reply to: [Exoplanet] Word limit on home pageYes, my site is mikehenebry.com
It sounds like you are zeroing in on my problem. I am probably misusing the slider. I can shorten that, but I still don’t know how to add text to the page. I do not have “excerpt” checked under “screen options” and the only place on my Home page to write any text is an area under:
Add Media
Heading and font settings.
Where would I write the text?
Thanks!Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Exoplanet] Word limit on home pageThanks, uxl. It is not an excerpt that I want to extend, it is the text on my home page. My site is not a blog, it is a basic web site. I am looking for a way to get 300 words on my home page. It seems odd to me that this is even a problem. Surely, most web sites have more than 100 words on their home page. So, it seems to me that I have overlooked something. Any ideas?

In reply to: [Exoplanet] Word limit on home pageuxl,
Thanks for the reply.
How would I do that?
There seems to be only one place to write text (the same place where you write text on the other pages). i.e., there doesn’t seem to be a place to write the slider information and another place to write any other text. I don’t see any other place to enter text on the WordPress page. What am I missing?
Thanks!
