In reply to: Funny Cool StuffI’d never visit your site because the first thing that hits my eye is a block of ads that take up 2/3rds of the screen. It tells me you’re more interested in making money from me than serving my needs.

In reply to: hownifty.com – the worlds coolest stuff!Images. Needs images to accompany the articles otherwise it looks like a firehose of text. Love the domain name, by the way.

In reply to: New Mag based on WordPressAny chance of releasing a variation on this as a public theme?

In reply to: New Mag based on WordPressFantastic work. I agree the Calendar and video headings need to be different, but I was impressed with how you incorporated the search bar into the overall look.
The photos down the centre? Brilliant idea.
I like the use of the whole width of the page. WP themes tend to leave large swaths of the screen unused and I think that can be a mistake: any well thought out design can incorporate the entire screen without the page looking packed.
All the best,
MichaelPS – what are you using for the tag cloud?

In reply to: “New!” indicator?I’ve disabled the code at the moment. The error is as shown above.

In reply to: “New!” indicator? Thanks for the reply, Alex — any idea why I’m getting the above error when I insert the directed code into the header.php file?

In reply to: “New!” indicator?Oh, and my site is https://www.hainsworth.com — click the “Turn Beta ON” on the top sidebar.

In reply to: “New!” indicator? Thanks for this. Unfortunately I get:
Warning: main(/wp-content/plugins/wp-last-visit.php?type=js): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/www/users/mhains/hainsworth/wp-content/themes/fresh/header.php on line 5Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/wp-content/plugins/wp-last-visit.php?type=js' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php:.:.') in /usr/www/users/mhains/hainsworth/wp-content/themes/fresh/header.php on line 5
when I place the necessary code in the header.php — the instructions say put it in the head portion of your index.php, but it appears this plug-in was written for v1.2 of WordPress and the head tag has been moved to header.php since.
Even the test site doesn’t show the plug-in working anymore.
I wonder if there’s an alternative? Or has someone gotten it working?
thanks,

In reply to: Snowfall – seasonal plugin (WP 1.5.2 – WP 2.0)Have you considered tying this plugin into a weather service? The site could specify the location, and when it’s snowing — flakes appear. Raining? Drops. Windy in November? Blowing leaves falling to the bottom of the screen. Nice hot day in the summer? Sun rays from the top right corner.

In reply to: Kineda – Redesignedwhooami, your articles appear to be formatted on the main page within tables. how did you get this to work?
Forum: Your WordPress
In reply to: Kineda – RedesignedI love the layout of the postings. Can you share how you managed to shrink the post images on the main page but have them expanded within the individual post page? And get several articles on the main page in a very newspaper-esque look?

In reply to: Love Lightbox, but…Most of my visitors are family and over the age of 40… as a result, they’re not as web-savvy as others and need a visual clue.
Anyone got any ideas??
