In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] Backup plugin without restoreSorry, I can’t edit my above post. I misunderstood the answer message and believed it implied you would need the pro version. You can actually restore manually without paying for the pro version. The latter is for added convenience.
This is pretty great overall.

In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] Backup plugin without restoreI didn’t even notice this initially. If you want to restore anything, you need the PRO version… Interesting “business model” ??
@dfleisnerbtc There was never any insult in my emails. I only had questions because I actually was interested to do business with you (initially, I mean). Why do you think I wrote to you in the first place? Let’s be logical.
@drmantistobogan The only “slander piece” are your comments guys. I tried my best to be fair, honest and accurate in my above review. Your comments just tend to prove that. So, very well, I misunderstood or simply didn’t like the idea. You didn’t come up with anything original since last time. Why don’t you please explain to us what I misunderstood, and what is inaccurate? And maybe better describe your product/offering? (this is also exactly what I asked and never received any answer about). That would be more helpful to everybody.
Thanks for the tip about “loose/lose”. I was under the impression “to loose” was written with 2 “o”. I was wrong. (you know English isn’t my first language). I’ve corrected the initial message.
So, your answers, which solely consist of lies (for the 1st one) and some denigrating, without ever addressing the matter at hand, pretty much sums up what I was describing, isn’t it? Thanks to prove my point.
PS: I love the tags you attached to your message. You realize this is going to be associated to your plugin? At best to YOUR message, not mine ??
Excluded categories stops any posts from those categories generating an email. That is bypasses if the setting to allow registers users to subscribe to excluded categories is checked.
perhaps you are right and that could be made clearer and more helpful.
I second that !!! Once you know the above, you know. But I personally didn’t see this information anywhere (and I searched this topic !). All this is a little confusing at first. Unfortunately, your plugin isn’t very intuitive on some levels, and that could probably be improved.
For example, the “compulsory categories” seems to also apply to registered USERS (who haven’t subscribed), is that right ?
Or you can exclude categories, NOT select “Allow registered users to subscribe to excluded categories?”, but switch “Auto-subscribe includes any excluded categories” to YES. It then seems they WILL be able to subscribe to excluded categories (in fact they will directly be subscribed, but can unsubscribe and subscribe again later). What will this do to PUBLIC subscribers ? Yeah, a bit confusing ??
You can, using CSS.
Right click on the page in your browser, click “inspect”, and you’ll have everything you need there. You then just have to learn a bit of CSS.You can also use Rainmaker, one of their other plugin, which has nicer forms, but only to subscribe to one list.
Hi Malay,
Sorry, I probably expressed myself very badly. What I meant is:
When “Allow contact to choose list(s)” is on YES, you can already select the lists which the user can select from, and this is GREAT ! Right now for the user, all the lists are unchecked by default. So the user has to check what he wants. I would love to be able to do the opposite: Having the lists checked by default and the user has to uncheck what he doesn’t want.My suggestion was to have for each list a second case “checked by default”. But for me personally, I really want to have ALL lists checked by default instead of unchecked.
WHY I would like this is because I plan to have one list per subject (category) of the blog, and let users choose which notifications they actually want. I plan to have around 10 lists. And it’s more about having the choice to avoid a few rather then to just select a few. 10 cases to check is quite a lot of clicks for the user. That’s the reason why I would love to have the 10 cases already checked and the user may uncheck what he doesn’t want.
I hope it makes more sense like this.
But, we have already added provision to allow contact to choose a list from which they want to unsubscribe upon clicking on Unsubscribe link.
That’s very good, and what is probably the most important. They can add with the form. It was especially this: Having to unsubscribe from everything rather than being able to just unsubscribe from one or a few list(s), that I didn’t like very much.
I don’t see that functionality. Will it be in the next versions ? Or the free version doesn’t have it ?
Thanks.

In reply to: [Subscribe2 - Form, Email Subscribers & Newsletters] Widget integrationWhy not use the “subscribe2 widget” ? I don’t know about PHP7.1, but with 7.4, it seems to work fine. If there is a problem with PHP7.1, you could try to upgrade. Or maybe the problem is somewhere else ?
Ok, I ran some tests in the meantime. It seems “excluded categories” do NOT apply to PUBLIC subscribers. They will receive everything.
This is a bit old. I am just discovering the plugin, and found this post with a search. It is a little confusing at first. Especially because of the difference between “public” and “registered” subscribers.
The question I am asking myself right now is: Are the “excluded categories” excluded for PUBLIC subscribers or not ? Because the setting is in the “registered subscribers” tab. Or does that setting *ONLY* NOT select the category for REGISTERED subscribers when subscribing ?
This is maybe what this discussion was about, isn’t it ? (the OP was maybe talking of PUBLIC subscribers, when the answer was about REGISTERED ones)
(Just a note: the compulsory categories seem to be selected for all registered USERS, even if they never subscribed. Is that correct ? Will they receive notifications ? Is that the intended way for the plugin to work ? It would be a little more clear if the text in red was talking of registered USERS rather than SUBSCRIBERS)
Thanks.
