I’m having this very same problem …. yet can’t find a resolution anywhere.

I’ve answered my own question ………….

My ‘mbstring.func_overload’ in php.ini was set to 7

Setting this value to 0 fixed the problem !

Anyone? I don’t believe no one else has not incurred this problem ?

Ooops …. this should be in the ‘fusion’ theme section!

This seems to have solved ‘most’ of the issue but not all.

It seems that the ftp program didn’t upload all the files …. hmm I’m uing FileZilla … always have been!

I’m confused how a small upgrade can cause such a catastrophic effect!

WP … please advise on this issue?

I am also having this problem on all 6 of my upgrades.

I’m getting this same problem. I have searched high and low, found various solutions – but non actually work!

It’s very annoying now.
