The setting can be found in your template list, when you modify a page. So I suppose that if you wanted to apply the template to the home page, you would need to create a static home page and use your custom page. I’m not completely sure. I didn’t change my layout.

I have checked others statistic plugins and the resultats are fine (~800 visits a day). However WordPress.com stats shows only 350 of these visits.
