This is probably too simple to be your issue, but just in case…

I thought I was having this problem, and then discovered that I’d neglected to check the box under “Send this backup to remote storage (…)”:

The following remote storage options are configured.
[ ] Google Drive

I think it must be checked by default after the first backup, because I’m not in the habit of doing that for my other site, but when I added UpdraftPlus to another site the box was not checked the first time I tried to run a backup.

In my case, it was not an issue with this plugin or with WordPress. Dreamhost tech support was able to help me sort this out by adding the following to my .htaccess file:

AddType application/octet-stream fpl
RemoveHandler .fpl

@esmi I want to be a good citizen on the forum, so please help me understand. That seems really counterintuitive. I have seen many many discussions in which people are experiencing the same issue and the discussion is quite productive. In some cases, users are able to solve the issue themselves by sharing their experiences. Why would this be a bad thing?

@esmi Yes, you said that previously to @maddielab, and I posted here for the same reasons: It is the exact same issue, so I’m not sure I see the logic in having multiple threads. I’m not trying to be difficult or cause trouble, I just honestly don’t see the benefit. Perhaps you could explain it to me?

Since you seem to be so knowledgeable and spend so much time monitoring the support forum, I don’t suppose there’s any chance you can shed light on the issue we are discussing?

EDIT: I just saw your note that this thread references an old version of WordPress. My apologies. For future reference, if I find a thread with the same issue and the SAME version of WP that I am using, would it be appropriate to post there?
