OK after the whole day of trying to figure this out it was so simple. Dotster only has defaults documents of –
    0 index.html
    1 index.htm
    2 Default.aspx
    3 Default.htm
    4 Default.asp

So you just need to add index.php into those default documents. Man so easy! To get to the Default Document listing go to Hosting > Home > Manage Webspace.

Ok made a text file with nothing in it and change the permissions to 666. Still getting ‘Directory listing is denied.’

    https://kidsmatterinc.org/wordpress/

Any thoughts as to what to change now. All the other permissions are 777.

Ok I just read that website and a few others about htaccess. The one big question I have is what exactly do I put in the htaccess file? Do I just put:
    DirectoryIndex
    index.php
    index.html
    index.htm

in a blank file and save as .htaccess?

Another question I have is that I am currently running my site – kidsmatterinc.org and I have added wordpress as in a folder – kidsmatterinc.org/wordpress. I want to continue with the old site until I make the new site. First, is this the right thing to do or do I need to host the wordpress site somewhere else first? Second, will the .htaccess work in this folder?

Thank you so much for your help!

Wow thanks for the quick response. Where exactly is the .htaccess file? I am not too versed in this, can you explain a little bit more.

    Thanks!
