  • I have updated as you requested, and the link issue when no logo displayed is working as expected now.

So looks like the two major issues I experienced after the update have a work around or are fixed and we are back to the public side working and looking as expected.

good luck with some of those backend DB/ dashboard issues. Only observation on my end at this time is the logo preview on the dashboard is quite a bit larger than it was before so the spacing isn’t ideal and there is unnecessary white space in the dashboard currently. But, I will take ‘functioning’ over ‘appearance’ when it comes to backend interface (who cares if it looks good but doesn’t work) as I am sure it will all get worked out.

Thanks for the quick resolution, I’ll be in touch if I find anything else.

    Matt

    Update-

I went ahead in the dashboard where in the list of sponsors it was showing that some had images with the preview that was displayed. When I went to ‘edit’ the sponsor, it was not showing the previously set logo that was displayed out on the list, so I clicked the link to add the logo, hit update and everything in that regard is now displaying correctly on the site (side note, the logo preview in the dashboard is now significantly larger than what it was before so the spacing isn’t as ‘clean’ as it was previously- FYI). So something about the update didn’t mesh well with the DB, but this was easy enough to do and it confirms that the logo’s at least work in the update.

For the shortcode I was using before the update where it would list the names and those with a URL saved would display as a link, here is an example:

    [sponsors images="no" style="linear" category="robotics-supporter"]

So one issue mitigated, but not entirely ‘solved’ and I will wait to hear back from you on the other.

    Thanks in advance.

I recently updated the plugin on our site as well, and things don’t appear on our site the same as before the update. Haven’t really had a chance to look into it much yet, just came here to see if I maybe missed something about the update and needing to change the syntax on the shortcodes.

In general looks like it is not displaying the image I have set for each sponsor if set to do so in the shortcode (they are there in the DB on the backend), but instead the site default image for posts, but if there is a link it works by clicking on the default image.

For sections where we are not showing sponsor images, but do link to URL, there is no link.

Here is the link to our sponsor page so you can maybe figure out what the issue is:

    Good catch!

Yes, I totally see what you are saying about the escaped text and the difference in the quotes, and now I am kicking myself for not catching that on my own.

I will have to revisit your plugin now with this bit of info to see if that is what the issue is since as I said before, several features of your plug in are favorable for our situation if I can get it to work properly.

I was able to get a work around in place with a different plug in on the current site, but when it comes time to update things in the not so distant future I might have another go with your plugin.

glad to get to the bottom of this since I was pretty sure I was missing something, but my eyes didn’t catch the difference in the characters since I was copy and pasting the examples you provided and just updating them for our situation/ application.

    Thanks for the assistance!

Yes, I would second this as a great thing to add in any future updates.

Reason being is that I added a title on the page to show the category of the sponsors in a given section (Benefactor, Champion etc) and then inserted the short code to display a grid of the sponsors from that category. Then I have a hard break followed by a horizontal line with name of the next class of sponsors, and then the short code for that category. I have gone about making sure that I photoshop all the logos to be the exact same size so things stay uniform, and have even created a default logo that I use for individuals who have donated to our organization since any sponsors who don’t have a logo get rendered as a simple link (which is fine) but that goes and messes up the grid when it is a mix of logos and links.

For now it seems to be working, and I am getting around a few issues that would be nice to improve on, but as I am building up my sponsor DB, I know I have some that I still need to add where their logo is a little more abstract so it would be nice to have the name of the company appear directly above or below the logo similar to what is in the widget.

Here is a link to our sponsor’s page so you can see how our application of your plugin is being used in our situation.

Well, having not heard anything back on this issue of only displaying one column using the short code, and not finding anything myself, I have unfortunately had to explore other plugins that serve a similar function as this one even though they are lacking a few key things I really like about this plugin (especially when it comes to Widgets, and displaying the title or name of the sponsor in addition to the logo image).

If you can get around to checking on this issue and what some possible solutions might be, I might be willing to switch back from the other one if I can get this to work properly, so I will leave this open for now and wait to hear any updates on it.
