Jetpack wrote to me to suggest some specific other plug-ins to disable, as they might have been causing the problem. (They were “PHP Compatibility Checker” and “WP Fastest Cache”.) I disabled them and the problem did not stop happening. Next they suggested changing my password. Super simple… and yet, it seems to have worked! So while I am not a Jetpack expert – if I were I wouldn’t have needed to create this post! – changing your password is a really easy thing that you might try.
    To do it,

    1. Visit your admin profile page by going to?https://your-site-name-or-URL-here/wp-admin/profile.php.
    2. Scroll down to the section where you see ‘Change Password.’

    Good luck!

Jetpack just uninstalled itself yet again (even though I have Auto-Update turned off.)

So then I had to go in and update Jetback and go through the set-up process, which is not in and of itself a difficult process but it’s downright annoying to be forced to do it every few days or else my entire web site is non-functional. And now that I’ve done that, one of my pages – my Illustration portfolio, the most important one for me to get freelance illustration gigs – still isn’t working. I don’t know why, but it was working fine before Jetpack went down again in the last half-day.

I really wish someone from Jetpack could help me figure out why it keeps uninstalling itself and making my web site non-functional every few days!

@threadi Thanks so much for the reply. Clearing the browser cache worked just fine. And wow, that was an easy fix! (I was dreading much worse.)

FWIW, “Project-Type” is absolutely not something I created myself: I’m simply not sophisticated enough to do something like that! But if it isn’t something built into WordPress then I suspect it might be something that’s part of Jetpack, which also is necessary for the entire Portfolio structure on my site.

Anyhow, thanks again for checking out the site and offering some help!
