Maybe im overlooking something somewhere because events manager has alot of settings but i cant see anything after a couple of hours fiddling with them both activated i keep getting these 404 page not found errors with them both activated, what i mean by random is if i go and change the settings in events manager or plugin organizer i can then go to an event page and violla no 404 page, then if i go back to wp admin and then back to an events page without touching any settings i get another 404 page, i have tried all the different permalinks and reset them etc etc but still problems, im going to email the events manager plugin devs too, see what they have to say and find out any info i can off them too,

In reply to: [File Away] is this plugin for me? can i acheive doing this?ok cheers tom for all your help and info, i am going to start the task of trying to set all this up for my specific needs later today, there is one question though can i stop downloads completely with File Away from the uploads folder but retain downloads in a seperate folder from outside of wordpress on my server for store purposes?
if all goes smoothly and the end result works for me you will of helped me out more than you think pal. as before this conversation i was unclear on how i may be able to pull this off. the website i have been building has been devoloped over a space of 1 and a half years and i believe its something special and unique and this is sort of my last task before completion.

In reply to: [File Away] is this plugin for me? can i acheive doing this?Hey tom i didnt say you was wrong bro, i completely and utterly agree with you like i stated i know that the url needs to be in the code, thats what i was asking you about, masking or obscuring it the way that websites like soundcloud does it, hence the reason i asked as when stumbling around searching i came across your plugin and was wondering if it could help achieve this task.
And who better to ask but the plugin author before i install it and spend hours trying to get this functionality out of it and wasting alot of my own time, so thankyou for your response.
s2member i have thought of using and may give it a shot to see if it can help in some way, so let me get this straight if i use s2member and set my uploads file paths to the s2member-files directory does this mean that when each user uploads there mp3 they can still embed it for others to listen to but stops other users from downloading it even with the correct url? does s2member somehow restrict access to user files dependant on the user that uploads it?

In reply to: [File Away] is this plugin for me? can i acheive doing this?HAHA love your answer thomas, very witty :), i know ya didnt design it for me ya nutjob (jokes) lmao, thankyou for you quik response though man, i also know and did state that we cannot ever stop people recording or downloading anything that is streamed over the internet if someone knows what they are doing.
but while i agree with you to an extent i also think you are wrong to an extent as well, because you then have to question how the big dedicated music sites accomplish being able to stream music so you can listen to the tracks before you decide to buy them without people being able to inspect the page and find the direct download links by using the steps i mentioned above.
If you dont believe me that they can and do obscure these links making them hard and almost impossible to find i suggest you go and try to find the links from streaming audio with developer tools yourself on a few big music retail websites.
simply deactivating the right click and save as option is kind of a small step compared to how it really should be done.
all i read on forums everywhere about this is, YOU CANT STOP PEOPLE SEEING THE CODE AND FINDING THE LINKS TO A STREAMED FILE, then ask yourself how do the dedicated music sites obscure and stop theres being found blatently?

In reply to: [EM Object Cache] Speed up backend?Hey paul you can turn off all plugins from loading in the backend by using a plugin called Plugin Organizer…also this will help you stop loading plugins on pages that do not need them, do a search for it, its an amazing plugin.

In reply to: [BuddyPress Wall] Post on another member's wall disappearingi agree, a response is needed sometime, man it was nearly a month ago i posted here and not a word back, i typed an accurate summery of problems for him that need addressing with this plugin after hours and hours of testing with different themes /installs and plugins, and he hasnt yet replied once, i mean come on man please respond, people here are paying interest in this plugin and there is no support whatsoever, i know you have been active on wordpress as i have seen you comment on other plugins etc? so why ignore us all here man? just some acknowledgement please?
the way i see it is this, why submit a plugin if no support is offered?
personally id rather not know that a plugin even existed than spend endless hours trying to get it to work without any form of support when things are broken!i think it is an amazing plugin if it was working how it should and i take my hat off to him for making it, but once again please fill us in on whats going on with it.

any help/info regarding the other things i asked would be great.
just need to make sure its working correctly for me, btw im using it on twenty twelve child theme.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [BuddyPress Wall] really need some help with child themei really dont understand this bit of the FAQ
“For example, to update the activity/activity-wall-loop.php template, open the template file in your favorite editor or IDE and open the template activity/activity-loop.php (without -wall-) and replacing the template activity-wall-loop.php by code from activity-loop.php and keeping only the bp-wall php code (marked between and ) in the activity-wall-loop.php.
for example in activity-wall-loop.php, the code
is used to load activity-wall-loop.php instead this code used in the default buddypress template.
so you must replace the template content and keep the bp-wall script.”
sorry bro to be a pain but if you read this back to yourself it isnt very easy to follow , try to think about what you wrote above from a new users perspective rather than ..it sounds right to me so they will understand perpective…i will explain
1.
For example, to update the activity/activity-wall-loop.php template, open the template file in your favorite editor or IDE
ok this bit i understand as i know which file im opening its the one i copied from the path you gave in your plugin folder
2.
and open the template activity/activity-loop.php (without -wall-),
ok this is where im a little confused! which directory do i get this file from? i know its in the plugins/buddypress folder but dont know which location from then on?
is it the one in the bp-themes/bp-default/activity folder? or is it the one in bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/activity folder??????
as you can see you don’t say exactly where!3.
and replacing the template activity-wall-loop.php by code from activity-loop.php and keeping only the bp-wall php code (marked between and ) in the activity-wall-loop.php.
now this bit has me totally lost again!….ok i have established that once i have the “CORRECT” two files open in notepad++, i then have to copy and replace some code from activity-loop.php to the activity-wall-loop.php…which part of the code is it i am meant to be copying and replacing? you say keep only the bp-wall code but which part is that? the whole lot? the top? the code under the top? …i dont understand what you mean by (marked between and)…..as you can see you just need to explain it all in a little more detail, especially for people who are quite capable of doing it if they could understand your explanation of how to do it.
maybee a few quick screen shots showing which bits to copy and replace would help everyone who has to do this to use your plugin, im still in learning mode and am capable of learning and doing things if things are explained properly. ive had to replace code a few times myself to get things working right but this time im baffled and also very gratefull for your plugin at the same time.

In reply to: [BuddyPress Wall] few problems with new version on default buddypress themeok back again lol, i now know why the View function doesnt work its because of the child theme “i missed what you had wrote in the FAQ” section about using a child theme so i switch to the default buddypress theme and it worked in there, but could you please explain how to do what you said in your FAQ a little better?
ok the problem with notification still remains even in buddypress default,
the problem is definately when you mention using the @ symbol or leaving a message on the users wall, the notification does infact show you have been mentioned on a page refresh but if you do not go straight to the notification and move to a different page then go back to your wall the notification dissapears and automatically does get marked as read, so unless you check your read messages frequently you will miss if someone mentions you quit easily as it doesnt even show you have a new mention in the mentions tab because it has been marked as read!
