In reply to: Limit revisions plugin@bcworkz, thanks very much for your reply. I appreciate that you went into detail about how to code this change. And because of this, I decided to give it a try.
I feel that I paid attention to your instructions, and was able to add this coding to the wp-config.php file successfully. My hosting company provides an in-house File Manager tool, so I did not have to use an ftp program. The problem is that after I coded the change, and then logged out and logged back into my WP site, the revisions still showed what they were previous to the coding change. I set the coding to 3 instead of 5 revisions. It seems that editing the file was pretty simple. What other troubleshooting can I do? Other than clearing the page cache, are there other ways to clear the revisions that are still present? Do I need to download a plugin temporarily to clear the revision count back to zero?
Ok, sorry for the delay — busy. I just got a new laptop, but was working on a Mac (iOS) when I wrote the above. I was using Safari. On the new laptop, I’m using Chrome. On Chrome, the Global Settings –> Submissions navigation does show up, it’s just that u need to scroll down to see all the menu items. So, yes, I can see that it is on there. However, you might want to double-check on Safari (iOS) that you can scroll further down to see the Submissions page menu item. No further need at this time. Thanks.
Ok, I got this to work now. However, there is a bug there, even though it is not a big one. I used to work in QA, so I do have some knowledge about this. It worked for me after I 1) unchecked ‘Always keep 2 post revisions’, and 2) hit the button above the list of settings, ‘Run all selected optimizations’. Of course, this deleted all of my page/post revisions, which is not what I really wanted. Although, I feel better that at least I was able to get rid of a lot of clutter. Again, the first two days when it would not work, I was clicking on the ‘Run optimization’ to the right-hand side of the setting, NOT the ‘Run all selected optimizations’ at the top. So, this might be where the bug lies.
To answer your question above, when it was not deleting any page/post revisions, I observed that 1) just beneath the ‘Clean all post revisions’ in small type it said something like ‘0 post revisions deleted’, and 2) when I went into edit mode for any of my current pages, it still said XX number of page revisions existing. That is my proof.

In reply to: [WP Table Builder - WordPress Table Plugin] Header row keeps repeatingThanks very much for your reply. FOR THE MOMENT, THIS FIXES MY ISSUE. SO, NO NEED TO GET BACK WITH ME QUICKLY. However, I am observing some deeper issues regarding bugs with this plugin:
“Location of target width option: https://ibb.co/X5mtvC9” – I made sure to correct this Window option.
Then, when I went below to the sections (same Responsive tab): Mobile, Tablet and Desktop, I saw that I had turned on the Header Row for the Mobile and Tablet sections. I turned these both OFF. Then, when I previewed these (refreshed), they both had issues. The problem is that the Header Row loses it’s background color for the 2nd column. So, I don’t feel confident that the table will be able to handle the Mobile and Tablet formats correctly.
Anyway, I do like the plugin. It’s very versatile, and serves the Woo Commerce builders very well. So, I will eventually give it 5 stars if you can work on what I have reported to you above.
Thanks again!
I’m all by myself with building this web site/blog, and I can’t afford to pay someone to help me until I get my business up and running. A couple of months ago, I listened to (and was deeply inspired by) a WP-sponsored podcast where Josepha Haden Chomposy shared with all of us WP website owners about how important it was to get the “intel” for what problems the developers and volunteers of the WP organization were seeing out in the field. Well, this is my contribution!
This is what I need to know:
1. Does my theme (Twenty Fifteen) allow me the ability to place a link and caption on a Featured Image for a static page? If not, is there a good plugin that will do the job?2. Please forward this request to Josepha Haden Chomposy (or to a team that works directly with her). I ask this because I intuitively get that this will be important down the road…
SUGGESTION FOR ADDING THESE CAPABILITIES FOR FUTURE WP RELEASES: Having more flexibility for featured images available for WP themes (and developers of non-WP themes) is getting increasingly important due to having to give photo credit to and being able to link to the sharing licenses, such as with Creative Commons and Wikimedia Commons.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [SimpleTOC - Table of Contents Block] Adding CSS background colorLook, I know that you’re pointing me in the right direction, but it’s only me. I don’t have anyone else’s help right now, and I know it would take me a lot of time to figure this out. I would really need someone to walk me thru each step, and I know that you are a busy guy. So, I went with another not-so-simple TOC block plugin, and it works much better for me.
I read thru this page that you list above, and it really doesn’t help at all. I would appreciate it if I could get a second opinion, meaning that I’d like other types of options from another WP volunteer (like everyone should get when they go to only one doctor). ??

In reply to: Easily changing a block from paragraph to ___fill in blankOk, I think I understand this better now. In editing mode, there is a 3-dot menu on the extreme top-left side. I already had the option checked (prior to contacting support) for the block menu to be located in a bar at the top instead of just above the block. You can check this to verify what I wrote above. I appreciate your assistance with getting me clear on this.

In reply to: Easily changing a block from paragraph to ___fill in blankAt 0:12, a block menu pops up directly above the block. What toggle or button do I need to engage to make this menu pop up?
Thanks for your reply. This looks like another case of the ‘secret ingredient in the chili recipe’ that can’t be revealed because it’s proprietary. Well, that’s ok. It’s just that there is a fine, fine line between what is secret and what needs to be ascertained by the Admin so that everything is covered in terms of other plugins that may compensate for what Akismet is not best at.
Ok, thanks for your assistance. Where can I go for under-the-hood documentation?
Hi, Patrick. Thanks for your support. I am almost certain that my hosting provider has not blocked any of WPMU DEV’s IPs. My hosting provider is good on the internal, techie side of keeping things secure, but not good at all on the customer support side, so it would be a waste of time to even ask!!
I am going to have to say go ahead and close this ticket because there are things that I need to keep researching in order to get things back in alignment on the backend. I have done the above things and nothing has worked yet.
Thanks again, and if I need to come back again I will make a new support topic.
Ok, this was great information for me to learn, and I took action on it today. Basically, I already have LetsEncrypt Free SSL thru my domain hosting site. However, I just found out that I needed to change the website address on the WP Settings -> General page to reflect this free SSL. I also put in a 301-redirect for the change from HTTP to HTTPS.
I MADE THIS 301-REDIRECT CHANGE DIRECTLY IN SMARTCRAWL (Advanced Tools page). The bad news: Even after making these changes, I still get the same error message for SEO Checkup. Is there some additional maintenance that I need to do in regards to the HTTP to HTTPS change?
Apologies for the delay. Yes, the firewall protection feature in the All In One WP Security plugin has been activated. Yes, I have “whitelisted” the IP address that you’ve written above, so please continue with your help and support.
I previously had installed Yoast SEO, and then deactivated and deleted it because I wanted to give SmartCrawl a try. Just today, I went into the PHPMyAdmin database and deleted some of the left-remaining Yoast SEO tables, but I’m still getting the same error message for the SmartCrawl SEO checkup. I can’t seem to find the source of the issue.
