My first question would be: What theme are you using? It could be there is a conflict.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Getting Error 404 after WP 4.2.1 installSign into your WP site.
Go to your Dashboard.
Go to Settings on the left side. Hover over this.
Select Permalinks and click.
Go to the bottom of the list and select Save Changes. It doesn’t matter that you have not actually made any changes.
If Permalinks were your problem, this will fix it.

In reply to: Preview & theme look differentYou would probably be best off asking the theme’s designers about this one, since I suspect it is something specific to the theme. You can also scroll through previous questions from other users to see if anyone has had a similar issue.

Forum: Localhost Installs
In reply to: Transfer of site failingDid you have any plugins installed on your site, especially caching plugins? If so, try disabling them by going into your wp-content folder and renaming the plugins folder to something like “plugins-disabled”. This may help you get to the next step.

In reply to: [Stacker Lite] please tell me about the advertising widgetHi Jana,
I am not familiar with this particular theme, but WordPress provides a blank text widget that will allow you to simply paste Google ad code in. You can then position that widget wherever you like on your site. If your theme does not currently support sidebar widget placement, it can be configured to do so … if this is not advisable on the front page, then certainly on any of the other pages.Forum: Localhost Installs

In reply to: WP setup: can't connect to database :(Usually for username and password on MAMP you use the word ‘root’ (without the quotes). That could be the issue. Try deleting the wp-config file if you have created one, then try the install again using ‘root’ instead of the username and password you created.

In reply to: WP setup: can't connect to database :(Hi Ronald,
I use MAMP too. Have you edited your wp-config.php file to connect to this database? You need to enter a few values in there before it will connect. If you open up that file you will see areas where you should update the database name, username, password, and host name. Hope this helps.Resolved.

In reply to: 401 error – authorization requiredThanks for your response. It turns out the error was related to my hosting provider’s use of the Cloudflare CDN.

In reply to: [Front End PM] No email notification?I was having the same issue. But I also have a similar issue on other sites, and I think the problem actually has to do with the way my hosting provider (Media Temple) handles mail from WordPress sites. I resolved the problem by using a plugin called WP-Mail-SMTP which changes the way mail is handled. Although I did have to tweak the settings a bit, all in all it was still very easy to set up, and now Front End PM (which is a wonderful plugin) is working just the way it is supposed to. So, try that plugin if you are still having problems.
