In reply to: [Clone] Outdated Useless Wast of Timedear cybersedona,
if you could clarify the basis of your review it would be helfpul. The help video is very clear and straightforward. Yes there are a few good wordpress cloning plugins (they are mentioned in the plugin description) but none of them work all the time either (its the problem for this type of plugin) and none of them are as fast or easy as our plugin. If you said that the support is poor, I would agree, your other comments seems out of place, sorry.Forum: Reviews

sorry you are having issues here. no WordPress backup or cloning plugin will support all hosting configurations. The supported platforms are listed here:

If you are using one of the supported platforms feel free to post a new support request and then send that link to [email protected].
About destroying two sites — using the plugin is at your own risk for the destination site as is clearly specified in the software. If you are saying the plugin destroyed the source site, that is a very serious issue, please post a ticket to [email protected] with all information possible.

In reply to: [Genesis Simple Headers] [Plugin: Genesis Simple Headers] Sample Child ThemeJohn,
Yes you are right, sorry for being overly critical, “useless” is too strong a word for sure. This is actually a liability of StudioPress themes that loading a custom header (in particular a full-width header which is what most sites will require) is somewhat technical, I know because I teach this stuff, was really hoping for some way to make this available to the people as it were, perhaps laterForum: Plugins
In reply to: [Genesis Simple Headers] [Plugin: Genesis Simple Headers] Sample Child Thememm, this plugin is a brilliant idea, but more-or-less useless in its current form, because most of the Genesis child themes need changes in css for header widgth and height, and if you are inside the stylesheet anyway, it’s a lot easier to work there rather than have to modify the code in the plugin. What needs to happen IMHO is that the plugin needs to read the header width and height from the stylesheet. Now that would be a killer app. I run beginner wordpress classes and this is what they need, trust me.
Thanks Gaurav. What do you mean “complete migration”, is this the same as what I am proposing or not?
thanksThere are two issues here, one is hotlinking of images or other protected content (ie course pdf’s) and the other is video protection.
s3flowshield is designed for video protection, not really for images. I don’t know if it will work for that purpose. It works by generating long url’s that are too complicated to share. I don’t know about “expiring urls” except that it does NOT support the type of expiring url’s that Cloudfront private distributions use (more on this below). It works fine for generating expiring url’s to videos stored on S3, via it’s own internal mechanism, but it won’t work with RTMP or private distribution .
Backie and Frederick are correct you can use S3 bucket policy to prevent hotlinking by only allowing certain referrers:
https://s3browser.com/working-with-amazon-s3-bucket-policies.php
but I don’t think this will work on Cloudfront (Cloudfront files are sourced by S3, but it’s a different security mechanism)Now about video protection
Neither S3Flowshield nor Easy Video Player (as of today) implement Cloudfront private distributions for RTMP streaming. This is a mechanism whereby the request to Cloudfront is digitally signed (with a key pair). These signed requests can carry an expiry date, can limit to only one IP address, etc. These (signed) url’s must be dynamically generated for each user request or page load (and made to expire in, say 15 minutes — if user doesn’t start the video or refresh the page in 15 minutes, the video won’t play).
I am writing a plugin called “Cloudfront private distribution extension for JWPlayer” that will generate these expiring urls. It’s not that complicated, and there is complete sample code here
https://docs.amazonwebservices.com/AmazonCloudFront/latest/DeveloperGuide/index.html?PrivateContent.htmlI have a video that teaches how to setup a Cloudfront streaming distribution with JWPlayer here, if interested (not private distribution):
If you have any question please post them there
thanks

In reply to: [HTML Import 2] [Plugin: Import HTML Pages] Imports garbage characterMy pages were coded in UTf-8, it appears plugin does not support that encoding, but it will import fine with no encoding specified

In reply to: [HTML Import 2] [Plugin: Import HTML Pages] Imports garbage characterIt works for me by just deleting the “content-type=XXXX” altogether from the HEAD tag.

In reply to: Add custom styles to the visual editorSuggest you use TinyMCE Advanced plugin which allows you to apply CSS styles directly to text. See my article:
