Hey @cutu234! I just noticed this while researching turning on HPOS myself.

Having experienced the same frustration with slow order lookups and query times, we resolved it without activating HPOS. In our case an old developer had manually deleted 100k orders out of the _posts table in an attempt to “resolve” the slow lookup speed, but the business owner wasn’t very pleased with that “solution” and wanted the orders restored (and the lookup queries still to be fast of course).

Moving past the obvious, “limit number of plugins being loaded”, make sure you have dedicated hosting with decent hardware (generally 8vCPU/16GB RAM would be the starting point for an “established” eCom production site). Then make sure you’re actually utilizing that hardware by turning up MySQL’s innodb_buffer_pool size along with PHP memory limit and PHP Service Worker values.

With these server config tweaks we were able to get all of the 100k orders restored and the 25sec+ load times in the /wp-admin down to 4-6sec.

A few side notes, we generally have better performance results with Nginx over Apache. Also it’s probably a little early for PHP 8.3. PHP 8.1 still seems to be the most “stable” for most plugin environments at this point.

@battouly Are you using MySQL/Nginx in your testing environment? I noticed where at least one other user experiencing slow checkout processing times with this plugin mentioned they tracked it down to the Nginx-helper.php file. We use Nginx across all of our sites, so this would be a major consistency to our experience with this plugin’s payment processing times.

Thank you for your quick response, Luan. The Woocommerce status report is attached below. You’ll notice that most of our caching is disabled. This is not due to Stripe testing, but more generally our site, environment, and UX felt cleaner and more fluid with out caching activated. Additionally we did not see any significant speed improvements to justify keeping it activated. Yoast SEO’s deactivation on the other hand is a result of testing as it did seem to shave 2-3sec off Stripe processing times (~15->12sec). Long story short this is the configuration that we’re seeing

10-15sec subscription product processing times
8-12sec regular product processing times
COMPARED TO ALT. STRIPE PLUGIN
6-8sec subscription product processing times
4-6sec regular product processing times

While admittedly neither processing speed is excellent and there is likely some degree of sequencing inefficiency and/or conflict at play in the checkout process/fulfillment logic, this plugin is still taking nearly twice as long to process.

@janmortenmaccom after some playing around I found that the shortcode only worked for me when using single quotes around the parameters.

[bpps_profile_field field=’test’ tab=’test’]

I’m not sure why, but hopefully that helps.
