In reply to: [Spun] Disable Pics Showing Up Black/White Until HoverI have also now answered my #3 question by finding this site
My only issue now is finding out how to make the header/footer text darker! Thanks
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Spun] Disable Pics Showing Up Black/White Until HoverWell, I think I found my answer for #1 above with the following code:
.blog .hentry a .attachment-post-thumbnail, .archive .hentry a .attachment-post-thumbnail, .search .hentry a .attachment-post-thumbnail { border-radius: 180px; filter: none; -webkit-filter: none; -webkit-filter: none; -moz-filter: none; -o-filter: none; -ms-filter: none; filter: none; opacity: 1; }
Is this okay?
If so, still having issues with the latter two questions…thanks again!
Ok, well I tried again tonight.
More successful, yet still unsuccessful.
I upgraded WordPress (after deactivating all plug-ins)
Than updated, then activated each plugin individually.
That worked, and the site worked and was online.
The problem: Tons of broken links, a new tab with nothing in it called ForumPress, my homepage works, but links from the homepage do not.
The Products Page is all screwed up, not all of my pages on the bar even work…lot of 404 errors.I really appreciate all your help. I am really starting to wonder about getting this updated. As I now know how important it is for security…I am still stuck! It’s either broke but safe which does no good, or unsafe and functional.
Anything I may have missed to actually make this work properly?

It may be restored before you get a chance to view it.
EDIT: It’s been restored.
Thanks. They do, I just looked…but the forum is down as of right now for maintenance.
Here are my current list of plug-ins (11 need upgraded):

WP Shopping CartI will try to post in their forum once it is back up. But you said to not upgrade the plugins until I upgrade WordPress to 3.2 so I am waiting on doing that. And am also making sure the webhost has a current backup again before trying to to that upgrade.
Ok, well it made a liar out of me, I told it to update, logged in, and still on 2.9.2. Now I don’t really know if I want to do it all again but I know it needs to be done. What do I do differently this time? Like I said after googling, it seemed to be the wp-e commerce plug in. So how to I make sure they are compatible first…this is all coming together slooooowly but starting to make sense.
Don’t know what I would do without you (probably have to read lots and lots more info).
Yes, before the update I deactivated all. Do I just update the databases now then? I really gave no choice, since I get that prompt when going to the dashboard…please advise.
Ok, well when I go to log on to the Dashboard after the restore I get this:
Database Upgrade RequiredWordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to upgrade your database to the newest version.
The upgrade process may take a little while, so please be patient.
So, if I do this, will I break the site again? I think, after some Googleing, it was the E-Commerce plug in which caused the issue.
I am kind of lost right now, and a little nervous, just happy to have the site up.
Thanks.
ok, backup fully restored…I can breathe again
Just restored my CPanel backup and same exact error. I am working with the hosting provider now to see about a restore?
Ahhhhhhh
umm, HELP!
I am getting this error now after updating to 3.2 successfully. Then went to activate plug-ins and:
Fatal error: Call to a member function add_rewrite_tag() on a non-object in /home/steve/public_html/vienna/wp-includes/taxonomy.php on line 333
WHAT DO I DO?!
I made a full backup using CPANEL fyi.
EDIT: I just looked and that file doesn’t even exist in that location on the server…I am completely lost. And without a website.
Ok, and then put it into maintenance mode?
And I see where I download WP 3.2.1, but installing it is going to be a whole new thing for me…is there a how-to or tutorial (video would be nice, ?? so I don’t have to ask you 20 new questions…
Thanks for your patience!
Thanks a lot for all the information. Few last questions before I do the upgrade:
1) Should I upgrade the plug-ins first?
2) You say to deactivate the plugins. To deactivate, do I just put the site into maintenance mode? Or do I actually have to go to the plug-ins page and deactivate them each? Thanks again!
Well, I finally figured out how to get to flat rate shipping, which was my main problem.
So, how important is it for me to actually upgrade the site?
Ok, I am somewhat getting it.
Is there a way to just put the site directly in maintenance mode, or do I have to go to Plug-Ins and deactivate all of them?
EDIT: I found under settings, Maintenance Mode where I can activate it.
Is that all I would need to do to upgrade to 3.2x?Also, it says there are 11 upgrades available on my plug-in page, is it just fine to do them?
While I understand the need to update, I don’t know if it is addressing the main problem.
The site: oldviennallc.com
Add a product to the cart, than look at the shipping cost. Then hit proceed to checkout, and you will see it fixes it.I am looking into the hosting and support for 3.2 now.
I don’t follow what you mean by deactivating all plugins and switch to the default theme…will that make the site not function?
I’m sorry for all the questions…but this is all a first for me.
EDIT: From Acehost, my wen hosting provider:
Hello Matt,
The majority of our shared servers do meet Word Press 3.2’s system requirements:
Server requirements
WordPress server requirements for Version 3.2:
PHP version 5.2.4 or greater
MySQL version 5.0.15 or greater
(Optional)(Required for MultiSite) Apache mod_rewrite module (for clean URIs known as Permalinks)Word Press 3.1 is also in the Fantastico package which comes with cPanel on our shared servers as well and can be used for self install if you find that 3.1 fits your needs just as well.
