    Hello :

Thank you for your reply. I don’t to want to add any other plugin. too many already. Woocommerce method to delivering the files with Redirect only is fine. I don’t care if it is secure or not. Security paranoia is too much nowadays. Is not that easy to find out a Google Drive link.

The other more secure methods don’t work with the cloud, so they are of no use to me and I guess thousands of other users that more and more provide their digital downloads with the cloud and NOT hosting which is prohibitively expensive when you have lots of heavy files.

I took a look at S3 Amazon cloud storage. Man, is that system slow to upload and make the file available. In the time I upload and share 1 files I can upload and share in bulk 1000 files in Google drive , batch extract download links with secondary apps and with CSV make it ready in minutes, that would take years with Amazon. That is only a good solution if you have a few files or you want to spend your live uploading and sharing links one by one as there are no batch extract share link solution. it is one by one. Crazy in the XXI century but thats the way Amazon has chosen. No wonder that for every client that uses Amazon there are thousands that use GDrive.

I hope that Woo really maintains that “deprecated” Redirect only because if not I think thousands of us that deliver downloadable products will need to look for other solution that make it possible to deliver through cloud services like Dropbox or GDrive.

Thank you for yor reply. I have taken a look at Envira and FooGallery and although they say the have WooCommerce implementation (both) I have not found in a clear way if they have what I want reading their documentation.
It seems that in none of these, you can search inside the product Tags of Woo to select the images you want.
I can create a selected Grid already with the woo blocks but then I have to choose mages (products) by sku or name. I can check those names in the in the Media section of WP but this is kind of slow.

I rather search for keywords inside woo . Select the products (images) I want and add those to a gallery to showcase anywhere.

I have not found a clear solution to that . Maybe it does not even exist yet.
The Woo pick up Grid block is already close. If it was only possible to search by tags and not only by sku or filename.

    Hi:
I use a plugin called Product Import Export by Webtoffee.
As I said I do not use CSV as I don’t like them for a number of reason being number one how confusing they look with all those data separated by commas.

I use that plugin because I like to work with Excel where everything is organized and well-structured, with great formulas to retrieve all kinds of data.
I don’t have a clue of how CSV even works . I can convert those to columns and rows with Excel, so I can start working with the data but apart from that, my knowledge of CSV files is close to zero.

Thank you Jan for your explanation

Creating the different folders gallery collections and galleries is easy. What I meant in my post is what are the implication on choosing one over the other. Should I order all my media with folders? Or all in image collections? Or all in collections. Or should I do like I do now because I do not know the advantages of one over the other and recreate the same with folders and galleries and create shortcuts for every image and cluttering and doubling with thumbnails the media section of WP?

Yes it is well explained how to create this different containers but what are the implications and advantages of one over the other. I am sure that what i am doing now that is replicating the same structure with folders and collections is not the most effective one but as I don’t know what problems or needs I might find down the road this is my strategy. If I would have seen a clear instruction on what to expect with every approach, I am sure I would have picked up one or another.

In any case thank you for your input as your predisposition to help is really encouraging.

    Kind regards

    Hello Jan:

Thank you for your reply. Three stars is not a bad rating. If that would be what I was thinking of your plugin, I would have left 1 star.

I actually think the plugin is ok, but not excellent because of what I think bad explanations of its functionality. You might think that text and images is a better solution to explain your product than video. I do not see it that way, and simple things like the difference between folders and image collections and the implications in WP are not clear. No, the little help question mark does to solve that doubt.

Also, no step by step visual explanation on how to create galleries on any wp page and all the menu options in detail of those. Just hope that at some point a YouTuber that uses your product makes a nice explanatory step-by-step video on how it works so we can leave the trail and error equation out.

And again, it is not that I think your product is bad. Not by a long shot. And surely with more visual explanations it would deserve those 5 stars. I think a product intended to make the visual aspect of WP more appealing and easy should at least confidently trust on the powerful visual learning capabilities of an explanatory video instead of old text .

    Best regards

Jetpack is bordering scam with this kind of aggressive tactics . I hope it will fire up on them big. Nobody wants Jetpack because it is bloatware and damages your website as it makes it much slower.

Forcing users to install jetpack to have Taxes is a Auttomatic disgrace.

I now can find my images in the Media section of WP with the tags. I have finally mapped the IPTC keywords to Tags Att Tags and Product Tags.

But when I import an image to WooCommerce from the library, those product tags are still not shown on the product tags of the product ???♂?

So I installed that Woocommerce Fixit plugin to see if it would make a difference and activated it. No difference. The WooCommerce product still does not show up any keywords in the product section .

I see in the plugin section that there should be a submenu created anywhere, but I have not found it after 1 hour looking inside the WooCommerce products and also the Media tab in WP. Where does this “submenu” live and what does it do? Is this a fix to the product tags mapped taxonomy not showings in the product tag in Woo.

The level of complexity of all this is really astonishing. And I have not even started to put my first shortcode anywhere. Too afraid ???? No I will not go this shortcode route as reading the documentation it seems that’s for people knowing more advanced coding or the sintaxis of WP which I don’t know. It is just out of my league, but it seems really granular of all the things you can do if you know how to write all those instructions.

But as MLA integrates well with Real Media I will just create folders of searched images (thanks to the mapped tags function of MLA) and place them in whatever post or page I need. I think this will be a much simpler solution than to learn all the different instruction of shortcodes.

In any case without your knowledge and help I would be totally in the dark and now I am slowly grasping on how this works, kind of…..??

I know now where the picture tag comes from : “WPvivid Plugins – Image Optimization”
I saw this on their plugin option installed on my site (I use this one for optimizing my images): ” Use picture tag (Does not support images in CSS)”

Thank you David for your detailed answer. Everything is much clearer now.

From the explanation I want 1- That the IPTC data goes to the product tags of WooCommerce so that clients can locate the images and 2- Be able to search inside my Media any image quickly if i want to change it update it or erase it the MLA tags might be the best option.

But from here 2 more questions arise:

1- Product tags: Once the IPTC is matched to this taxonomy will the added images to WooCommerce directly or by Spreadsheet (CSV) recognize those product tags automatically or do I still need that “example WooCommerce plugin” you mention so that WooCommerce “imports” or “understands” those products tags.

2- As I have been playing with images with those assigned tags from IPTC I see that the tags (don’t remember if they were the product tags/picture tags-the ones I selected to match) if I remove the images they remain in the MLA (section tags). If I want to bulk remove you can select a list of 20 or so and remove but this took long for 35 pages of tags (only from 450 images) so is there a quicker method like “remove all tags”.

I don’t care an iota if they are the same company. Coca-Cola has hundreds of products, and that does not mean I have to consume all the one they made or have under their umbrella. Maybe that’s your thing. Go ahead.

I also don’t care abut WordPress.com. I use WP on my hosting site and as far as I know I have not lost anything roaming there. But if that’s your choice, I wish you a great journey in WordPress.com. Just don’t assume that all people here are going to follow that strategy.

And I would be glad if you in your magnanimity let me choose if I want to continue with WooCommerce without the need of Jetpack or wordpress.com.

    Have a nice day.

Woocommerce should not need any external plugin to work correctly. And much less share data with wordpress.com which I don’t want to.
If they need Jetpack they should buy it out or integrate it, but forcing users with aggressive behavior is out of line.
I think more and more users are noticing this so no wonder the poor rating you have as people are fed up with this pushy policies.

    Hi David:

Really amazing plugin. Very powerful. Would have never understood it without your help but I can see how useful it is for my setup. I will not use WP JoomUnited anymore as without search capabilities it is of no use to mee. I have installed MLA with Real Media Folders, and it works great so far.

But I still am confused by a few things: There are many Tags taxonomies and I don’t know if I should put my IPTC Keywords in all:
Product tags I guess refers to Woocommerce? I have matched it with IPTC
Tags – I don’t know . Is this WP tags???
Picture tags This I have also matched with IPTC
Att Tags? I also don’t know for what is this one.

Should I march IPTC keywords with all this different Tags taxonomies.

    Thank you for your help.
