Thanks for pointing me in the right direction; the weirdest thing though, had a scan check done by Securi Site Check, another wordpress rated plug in and it gave me a clean bill of health??? And if I signed up with them to do the biz for me, it would have been 89 dollars a year.

Will have a read tho – thanks

Hi ESMI; You are absolutely right ! ! ! Did a couple of tests posts (which I deleted) and when the there’s two posts it does settle into a left and right. Thought I was in for a brain squeesing session there when I first saw it previewing singularly. Thanks again for your time – Regards Martin

Hi ESMI, Excuse my thicknuss, but does this mean If I write up say three to four posts then they will cascade in a nice row down the left hand side and my widgets will then appear. Just wanted to be sure so i didn’t go imputing bolgs and articals over the next two says to no avail. – Thanks for your time on this – regards martin

I agree, it’s designed so that you have the option to remove side bar, and even change the side. Have created pages with no sidebar visible and they are grand. On my front home page, that says in the original blog ‘hello world’, all the side widgets are shown. See https://www.dealing-with- separation.com. Yet am I to understand that if I blogged, then all the data down the right sidebar is then not visable to anyone? I can switch this on or off on all the other pages created except this default doesn’t appear to be editable.

Thing my terminology is a bit off here; Its the stuff that I put in as widgets, text widgets, categories and the like that’s gone. Lynda.com tutorial is good, it behaves well for the tutor, on twenty ten but the twenty eleven appears not to respond. So I’m going to change theme to see if the widgets down the right side of the homepage/blog don’t get bounced. The footers are still where it should be. Any other ideas most welcome

Hi Jonas – thanks for your reply; but great news I found it!! I was watching a tutorial on Lynda.com of an earlier version of word press which had all the editing options on view. So when writing a static page like comments you could turn off and disable the reply box that shows on the page to leave it clean. But on the new version its hidden in scroll options stuff. So to do it you have to open the page in edit and click the screen options on the upper right of the screen. That way a grey top bar with options appears. When ticking discussion the allow comment and track back and pings options appear on the edit page screen below the text input. So these options can be ticked to turn it off! So result, no comment box on static pages like about, contact and home – so can all just be on blog page if you want it !!! Regards Martin

Hi Tim, will check out go daddy, and will pace the user and server detail with them and hope it works. I’m grass green to this and thought word press would be an easy option to get up and running. Looks like I need a degree meantime still trying to figure out some of the Jargon. Lynda.com has some stuff on setting up but the tutors doing it bluehost! Thanks Martin

Hi Elan, I transferred it over to dreamhost yesterday, and it was there that I was getting the error message when pressing button to install word press. On my accounts page at dreamhost it displays the domain as moved. Still at a loss – Regards Martin
