  • I feel like a bozo. Searching for another problem the other day I noticed that these features were hidden under that tab. I did not realize that “screen options” are context sensitive!! As I say, what a bozo!

I do not see the drop down menu of link targets in my version of WP 3.1?? Where does this option appear?

This may be muddying the waters…. I just provided a full URL for downloads in the Settings:Media panel of WP. I have now inserted a number of images and do not see this relative URL problem recurring. Again, as a non-expert WPer I am not sure exactly where some of this settings come into play. Does this change make any sense as a fix to this problem?

I am using the regular WP “Add an Image” feature on the Upload/Insert line of the editor. I do have TinyMCE Advanced installed. When I look at the links in the image editor(both built-n and TinyMCE Advanced) in WP the relative URL is displayed. I do see that the HTML in the source from the browser shows the relative links.

Thanks for your reply. I am not sure what you mean by “The images in your single posts are zero pixels wide by zero pixels high”.

When I click on a “read more” link from the excerpt on the front page, the images do not display in the full posting display. I checked the source code in the browser and here is an example for one of the images:

    “<img class=”alignleft size-full wp-image-2170″ style=”float: right; margin: 10px; border: 1px solid black;” title=”real US GDP-1973-2009″ src=”../wp-content/uploads/2010/10/realGDP-1973-2009.gif” alt=”real US GDP-1973-2009″ width=”275″ height=”212″ />”

It seems strange that the html code appears correct and yet the browser is not displaying the image. Baffled here. Can you clarify?

There is no Publish box present in the list of Screen Options. On checking on the Edit Pages screen, where the Publish panel is present and working, there is no Publish box present in the list of Screen Options either.

    Thanks for the thinking.
