thanks for the response, Turning off all the less crucial plugins doesnt seem to help at all. The theme and main plugins are all very highly rated and widely used so am confused how these are the cause.
Yeah this has been a really frustrating first experience with WordPress. It seems like the key to WordPress is not using plugins or themes which I never would have expected.
