i’ve the same problem and i think a lot of person have this problem…you can verify the site after you have rename/delete the htaccess, but when google retrieve the verification file you have the same problem

yes, i ‘ve tried different solution but google can’t validate my site…i’ve tried to delete the htaccess but google return everytime to search the confirmation html file.

For example i don’t have robots.txt but in the webmaster tools it finds the robots.txt because it return 200 ok for non-existent files…it’s a big problem

for me don’t work, the plugin doesn’t create any thumb…i don’t know which is the problem

i have this error:

I’ve the same problem, to verify the site the only way is delete or rename .htaccess, after this you can restore the htaccess.

I don’t know why google return this error, i try some online software like https://www.seoconsultants.com/tools/headers.asp and for an head request it return a 404 for non-existent files…

If i try to ask an head http request i receive 404 for non-existent page…google works only if i delete my htaccess

benmik i don’t speak very well, sorry if my english is basic but i have used “****s” because is the most appropriate word for understanding the problem

i think this is a big problem because google when ask for and old page cached receive 200 ok and not a 404 error

i don’t know why the meta tag verification didn’t work, but in other wordpress site it works….i’ve solved using the html verification but before i must delete the htaccess file.

the htaccess ****s the head request, in the other blog without htaccess i don’t have any problem
